Beautiful 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300CD non-turbo diesel coupe with 155,000 original miles. This car has been pampered it's entire life and I have service records dating back to the '80's to verify the mileage and the care it's been given over the years (including the original metal plate from the factory). I'm the third registered owner of the car and it's been my daily driver for a little over a year. I know these W123's very well as I grew up with them and this is the 2nd one I've owned myself. I shopped for over a year to find a coupe in this condition, but new baby is forcing the sale. The car is unrestored and in fantastic shape both mechanically and cosmetically. Body is 100% rust free and it's always lived in a dry climate (Texas, Wyoming and Colorado). Just re-painted the original color as the clear coat was peeling off in some places when I bought it. Paint is guaranteed for 5 years through a national provider and I removed the emblems, moldings and bumpers instead of just masking it. She looks amazing. When I took it in for the smog test here in CO, the technician said he couldn't believe what he was seeing. These non-turbo diesels are allowed up to 40% opacity (bad emissions) and this car had 0% at all 4 intervals (idle, 40mph, 50mph, 60mph) - I have the paperwork. The guy said it was like a brand new engine - compression is perfect and no dark smoke whatsoever. Interior is all original and in great shape for its age. Seats have no rips or tears and only show wear in a few, very minor areas. Not one crack in the dashboard! This was a heavily optioned car from the factory and included burl wood interior trim and monogrammed "300CD" floor mats which are in great shape. Original first aid kit is just like the day it was new -- bandages and all. 2 of the tires are brand new (less than 500 miles) and the other two are in nearly new condition. New battery is still under warranty through Napa, and the alternator is brand new. Vacuum system is in great shape -- power windows and door locks work as they should. I have this car in the perfect condition for the way I use it, but it's not a showroom perfect car. A/C and cruise control do not work and heat works through the defrost function only. The wood trim piece around the climate control is missing (easily found online) and there are a few cracks in the wood trim around the shift knob and to the left of the steering wheel. Vinyl in the back seat was stained in a few places but I haven't tried to have it professionally cleaned as it doesn't bother me. Small, power windows in the backseat are also not functioning, but don't think it's a vacuum issue as it seems to be a problem with the switches. Again, I don't really use the back windows so I haven't looked into fixing them. A few, minor tears in the vinyl headliner and some cracks in the vinyl on the backseats are barely noticeable. This car is truly a diamond in the rough. The coupe is the rarest of the W123's and it's very hard to find one in this condition. It's really stunning in person.
