Hello and welcome to my auction, you are bidding on a 1981 vw rabbit diesel pickup, I picked up this one a couple of years ago and have been restoring it to its original glory ever since, I found it sitting in the Nevada desert, the hot condition had faded out the paint and interior, the original owner a Vietnam vet did not want to sell it but I convinced him to sell it to me, I fell in love with the truck because it was pretty straight and with zero rust, I got it home and I tore it apart, had the engine compartment hot pressure washed and painted to the original silver, the rack/pinion was torn apart and rebuilt complete with new oem boots and tie rods, the 5-speed transmission was hot tanked /painted and new seals installed, the front struts were torn apart sand blasted/painted and new kyb strut inserts ,new upper strut bearing, new dust covers etc, the front wheel bearings were torn apart sand blasted and new bearings installed, the front rotors were sent to a machine shop along with the rear drums to get turned and new brakes front/rear were installed, new wheel bearings in the rear too, next the original motor was beyond rebuilding,by luck I found a NOS Cofab short block with brand new pistons, had a 1.6 german head rebuilt with new valves/guides and had the motor put together with all new seals, new water pump/housing, new SACHS clutch, all new hoses, new water reservoir, rebuilt injector pump, rebuilt injectors, new radiator, new continental timing belt , new motor mounts, new rear mount, new front mount , etc, the dash was trashed but luckly I found a matching burgundy dash from an 84 rabbit, new head liner, the carpet was taken out and had to scrubb the living daylights out of it has no tears as you can see in the pics, the whole interior was done up using sound deadner material, has all original factory glass all around, the wind shield rubber is brand new, new wiper blades, new tires, new battery,too much to list, hopefully the pictures say it all to the amount of work put into it, next the body was totally sanded down and painted the original silver its not a million dollar paint job but decent, a friend of mine painted it, has a few minor dents nothing major, also had the bed painted with bed liner material(rhino), the tailgate has new bushings so it opens and closes smoothly, the only thing left are the seats which are at the upholstery shop getting redone in burgundy vinyl with velour inserts should have it back by next week, the mouldings on the side and the lettering in black for the tailgate, will have more pictures as the work progress, if you have further questions please feel free to email me, the truck has a clear NEVADA title, thanks for looking and happy biddingOn Oct-25-14 at 14:56:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Just wanted to add a few more things that I forgot to mention earlier, the truck is a NON AC model, the tailgate is flawless just waiting on the decals for it so that I can take a picture of the rear side, the rear bumper is flawless too, the truck has a new hood latch as well as a new hood cable, new fuel filter, new fuel lines, new air filter, new oil sender, all new belts, new thermostat, new coolnt temp sender,new windage tray, new oil splash cover under the valve cover, all new shifter bushings, new shifter rods, rebuilt axles/drive shafts, should have the seats in 3 or 4 days then I will add more pictures.
