This '53 Chevy 1/2 Ton 3100 Pickup is set up to be an amazing driver. With a boxed frame, independent front suspension and standard 10 bolt GM 3.08 rear end, the truck was built to drive and handle like a modern vehicle. The engine is a crate GM 325 HP 350 CI fueled by a Holley 670 Street Avenger with headers, dual exhaust and glass packs. The GM 350 Automatic transmission with new aluminum pan shifts flawlessly and the drive-train combination coupled with the 3.08 geared rear-end make for both power and good fuel economy. Engine is cooled with a 2 core (1 inch cores) aluminum radiator, clutch fan and shroud and a 180 degree auxiliary pusher fan. Even with A/C running is the summer, temperature never goes above 185. The front end is from a '74 Nova and is completely rebuilt. The power steering gear box is a new CPP 500 with a Flaming River variable rate pump. Steering is smooth and responsive without the over-steering so prominent in early GM power steering units. New front disc brakes and large 10" booster allow you to "stop on a dime." The front suspension is stock height for the '74 Nova with big block coil springs to provide just the right lift. The rear end is a 10 bolt GM with 3.08 gears, leaf springs and Monroe Sensatrac coil-over shocks. Entire rear-end has been been rebuilt including axles and bearings. Rear brake drums and shoes are new. Wood bed is protected by a locking tonneau cover. Paint is good driver quality, no rust or bubbles and a couple pings below the rear glass. If you don't care for the color, I'll professionally paint it with PPG base/clear, wet sand and buff for additional $2,000 over winning bid price. Bumpers, grill, mirrors and all external chrome are new. Tinted glass is new as is the rubber and door rubber. Wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust with Goodyear radials. Interior sports new paint, clean bucket seats, new door panels and levers, locking center console, tilt steering with cruise control, intermittent electric wipers (silent and function extremely well), Samsung Bluetooth stereo locked in console, dual center and kick-panel speakers, new carpet and floor mats. Air-conditioning is ice-cold. Dolphin gauge package - all function properly. Lokar cable accelerator pedal is a great touch. 3-point harness seat belts. Battery is new along with new alternator, starter, wires, plugs, HEI ignition and cap. Truck has completely new American Autowire harness and Hi-res halogen lights. This is not a show truck, however, it really turns heads wherever I go.
