Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE General – I am selling a nice looking, dependable old truck; it is a 1961 Chevrolet Apache 10 in un-restored condition. These trucks are among the most sought after trucks of their era. This truck has a clear Montana title, it is licensed and insured and I drive it weekly. My dog is not going to be happy to see it go; I will vacuum it as best I can before the sale, but you may still see a white Border Collie hair float past you on a warm day with the windows down. Of the older collector vehicles I own, this is the one that I can always count of to start. It is a lot of fun and takes you back in time. You will not have to worry about getting a ticket for texting, because you will not enough hands to steer and shift and still have a hand left over for sending a text or drinking a latte while driving this truck. What you will experience is the fun of driving as we did back in the day. Legend has it the truck has lived all of its life in road salt free Montana Body and interior - The best part about this truck is the solid body; we are also very dry here in Montana. There are no rust through spots although the trailing edges of the fenders are bubbled and will soon rust through if this truck goes to a salty, damp environment. To be honest the pictures of the truck are flattering as the paint and body work are not all that great. The truck is a repaint and you can see the original orange color coming through in a few areas. There are a few places where you can see very faintly where a previous armature did cover some areas; most noteworthy is the tailgate. All of the trim and garnish are present and accounted for. It turn heads wherever I go, I have yet to meet the adult who did not have one or someone in their family or a friend that had either the GMC or Chevy version. Should you decide to make a show truck out of it, the work required will be fun and easy and you can drive it daily as you work. The seat has an aftermarket cover. The truck has a new carpet and mats. In the pictures you will note a fire extinguisher that I will let go for the buy it now price. The windshield is cracked; the other five pieces of glass are intact, not broken, cracked or de-laminated. The bed is an interesting concept. Most of these old trucks up until the 1970s had a wooden bed floor and they routinely and sadly rotted out. The normal fix was a sheet of steel or plywood to cover the factory bed. Some previous owner of this truck must have had a great engineering mind. He installed the usual piece of plywood; however he found a bed liner of the correct fit and installed that over the plywood, (see picture). It gives the truck a nice look and is easy to clean out. Overall the truck is in decent shape, showing 53 years of use in dings and minor rust and leaks. The tailgate is serviceable and works just fine in all three positions but you may want to replace or recover it for show. The truck as pictured has a diamond plate tool box and for the buy it now price, I will let that go with the truck. The truck has some very nice oversized rubber mounted on magnesium wheels, (see pictures). I have a receipt of where the previous owner spent over $900.00 for the tires. There is no spare; however I do have a complete set of era correct steel wheels with original dog dish hubcaps (see picture) that I will let go with the truck for the buy it now price. Even the dome light still works. Mechanical - The engine could quite possibly be the original, at any rate I believe it to be a 235 CID which runs very well and has always started. The transmission is a 4 speed, with the “granny” low; it is in very good shape, it does not jump out of gear and it shifts smoothly. The transmission, clutch and driveshaft seem well balanced and in good shape. First gear is very low and does require a double clutch from a higher gear. The differential is original or of the right era, it is geared pretty high as 55 mph is just 2450 RPMs. The brakes are adequate and the emergency brake still works fine. The front end is surprisingly tight indicating good maintenance and or parts replacement as needed. The truck also has a cold weather engine heater. Most of the gauges still work, the fuel gauge does not. The speedometer does not work; however I have calibrated the speed of the truck to a tachometer, (see picture) and have posted the speed/RPMs on the dash (see picture). I had to list 99,999 as eBay will not let you put in unknown mileage. The dash is complete and uncut. There is very nice CD sound system with kick panel speakers. Summary –This little truck is an excellent example of originality. It has been a long time since I have seen one this complete anywhere close to my buy it now price. It is totally drivable as is and can be enjoyed as is for work or play or you can drive it while you make improvements. I would not like to see this one made into a hot rod. It is too complete and deserves to continue as is or have someone turn it into a show truck. Payment, Disclaimers, Storage, and Transportation - I require a non refundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours and the remainder prior to me sending you the title. Well I have tried to represent the truck as honestly and accurately as I can; please read the description carefully and look closely at the pictures. Make no mistake the paint and body are not perfect. The truck is sold as is, where is, and with no guarantee nor warrantee implied or specified. I am very proud of my 100% rating and will answer questions. I will post some of them so that others may benefit. I would really not like to store the truck very long because of worry of liability and responsibility issues, but I will work with you for a little while. Due to non-payment of two of the last three items I have sold on eBay, I will cancel a bid from anyone with less than 3 feedback. If you do want to bid, have no feedback, have the funds and are serious about buying the little truck, then please by all means contact me. I do have a tow truck and trailer and could deliver or do a partial delivery for $1.25 per loaded mile within a reasonable distance. Please New York and Florida are not reasonable distances of Clancy, Montana. Good luck with your bidding and thank you for your interest. On Oct-11-14 at 06:36:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 11 October 2014 - I have been asked about the buy it now price I refer to in the ad. What I have discovered is, once the reserve price has been met, the buy it now price disappears from the advertisement. That is an interesting concept isn't it? Actually in this case I had the buy it now set at $4,500. Thank you.
