Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my beloved 1974 Lotus Europa TCS This amazing mid engine British supercar shows just 38000 miles on the odometer and weighing in at roughly 1600 pounds is the epitome of Colin Chapman's design philosophy; Build it for speed and make it light. Featuring an all fiberglass body that was recently painted a brilliant black, it is a great base to do a John Player Special clone or to enjoy as it. There are no spider-webbing, crazing or cracks like you see in other Europas. The frame shows no signs of damage or serious rust/rot and is solid and straight. The wheels were sandblasted and powdercoated (including the spare) and then shod with brand new tires in the proper 175 185 sizes, leaving better than new fit and finish. The shifter linkage to the 4 speed trans was replaced at all the joints to help alleviate that bowl of soup shifter feel that is almost synonymous with Europas. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner and pulls well with no strange noise or smoke; the valve cover was also redone in tuxedo black crinkle powdercoat for longevity and style. The interior was restored with new door panels, center console and seat bolsters being stitched up, and the wood dash was replaced with a piece that is of higher quality than OEM. The steering wheel was replaced with a wood-grain Nardi to help accentuate the warm feeling the cabin has to offer. Flaws and defects: there is a scratch on the rear of the engine cover and 2 chips in the paint that were professionally touched up. it still wears the stock brake boosters/servos which are going faulty. they are easy to remove and many people do but i will leave that decision to the new owners. the interior needs a small amount of fit and finish workthe speaker holes in the doors have not been trimmed until a proper stereo can be installed if so desired. it is missing the tachometer and the speedometer needs a cable the windows do roll up and down, but the switches need to be installed the rear view mirrors and windshield wipers/windshield chrome trim were lost and are easily sourced for replacement the brake pedal sinks and will need to be addressed Overall, this is a great example of an excellent Europa and would make for an easy show winner and road carver that you will never see two of at the same time. But please note that this is a 40 year old British sports car and is going to need love and attention. Bid with confidence and feel free to ask any questions you may have.On Oct-06-14 at 17:59:11 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a 1973. The 74 stated in the description is a typo.
