This is a 1985 500 SL Euro model 2 door convertible with the hard top. The VIN# is WDB1070461A024025 The car runs and drives nicely but has flaws and is not perfect. I am the second owner and know the original owner. It was very well cared for over its life by the original owner with regular visits to a benz mechanic in the Napa California area. Ive put under 200 miles on it and have installed a valve cover gasket and cap rotor set in that time. It starts quickly and easily. It runs and shifts smoothly. It accelerates and cruises great. Brakes and steering work smoothly.There are no unusual noises that I can detect. The body is straight and has no signs of rust. The interior is in good/ok shape but shows wear. The odometer does not work but the original owner said it did when I got it so I estimate it is about 200 short at the most of being true at 116,360. Exterior flaws include..some faded paint/chips, missing 3rd brake light... Interior flaws include..cracks in some upholstery/vinyl, peeling of some wood trim finish, fan works intermittently, radio is original and works I think..its labeled in German and im not sure how to operate it. Ac not working. Some small trim flaws. Weather stripping allows some wind noise. Mechanically it starts, runs and shifts fine. When the valve cover gasket went it leaked profusely and there is some oil residue on the undercarriage ect. Ac is not working I was told its the pump. Its probably due for a battery. The trunk lid will not stay up (the stays are there but not installed). Tires are ok. Being a Euro model makes this 500 SL especially attractive and somewhat rare. Its a beautiful car.
