Vehicle Detail
I am selling an original condition 1962 International Scout 4x4 , this is not some piece of junk with a new paint job like what I have seen for sale on Ebay for $7 or $8 k dollars , I searched for this particular model and color combo with a bench seat for over 2 years till I found this one on Ebay 12 years ago from a International collector , It has the rare sliding side door glass , no rear seat , it has the full top , but is also set up to accept the half cab top also , I had a roll cage built for it for safety and to haul my surfboards , I had intended to swap out the original four cylinder with a small block , but it ran so good and I never had to add oil and I loved the fuel economy so I kept the original motor , I am really glad I did , as I drove it daily for the first 5 or 6 years I fell in love with the original look and feel and could not bring myself to tear up such a nice original survivor , all of the emblems are perfect and original to the truck as is the grill and other chrome ... When I got it it had a big cow catcher grill guard on the front that had protected it all those years , the guy I bought it from told me it had been on a ranch , in north dakota I believe most of it's life running fence ...It had 0 dents , it is as clean under the hood as it is outside with a vintage look ...I did update a lot off stuff over the years ...new steering box , braking system complete including the lines , new weber 2 barrel progressive carb, still have the original holley 1 barrel with the oil bath air cleaner, just did all the plugs and wires cap and rotor , brand new battery this week , new axle bearings in the front , rewired the electrical with new ignition switch and modern fuse block ...converted the old vacuum wipers to electric , new radiator , water pump ,I have pretty much been thru it all in the last 12 years, because it has been driven regularly , not a lot of miles because I live very close to my work and not far from the beach , it has been the most dependable vehicle I have ever owned , it has never let me down , oh it has a tow bar also that I used to pull it behind my motor home , and the lights are wired for towing , I have had many different vehicles over the years from classic sports cars to brand new but I have never owned anything that has gotten more notice and positive feedback from people in my life , it just seems to make people happy , my daughter was only 5 when I bought it and she loved to ride around in it , she used to ask me " daddy why does everyone love the scout so much , you see for the first 8 years it was in about 1/2 yellow and the other half primer , I said I think it just brings back good memories punkin , it was showing about 45k miles when I got it ...it now shows about 56k and the speedo cable broke about 4 years ago , so I am not sure of the miles , but it is really tight , the guy I bought it from thought that the miles were actual but could not be sure , who knows , it's over 50 years old so ? I am sure I am leaving out a bunch of stuff about the scout but I am tired of typing ...lol...also if someone in california buys it I was lucky enough to get the personal plate of 62SCOUT and you can have it ! This baby has super good Karma I really hope it goes to someone that will love it and have as much fun as I have had with it .I love unique one of a kind stuff and this is it , in 12 years I have never passed another yellow 62 scout ! It just isn't good for it to sit and not be used and I just can't drive it with my bad leg now , no more sticks for me I am afraid , I thought about swapping the motor and trans to a automatic but it just doesn't seem right to do it to one this nice . They are only original once . I would not be afraid to drive it anywhere , just don't be in a hurry , top speed is only 65 mph. I would like a $1,000 non refundable deposit within 24 hrs. of close of auction by cashiers check and the balance by cash or cashiers check in 7 days . You are responsible for pickup and shipping , but I will help if you find a shipper and the money has cleared the bank first . This is the first time I have sold something on Ebay , I have bought things but never sold . If you have questions call me and will try to answer any questions .
