Vehicle Detail
1966 Ford Fairlane 2 Door Hardtop: My Dad bought this car for me in 1992 (when I turned 16). The odometer has never worked, so I have no idea how many miles are on it. I applied for a lost title when I got it, so I don’t know much about its history. I painted it blue and drove it until I went to graduate school in 1998. It has spent the rest of its life either in the barn or sitting outside (probably about half and half). My Dad said he would be happy to show it to anybody that wanted to see it in person. Motor/Electric: It has a 289 engine, automatic transmission, and was great on take-off (got in lots of trouble with this car). The shifter was switched from the column to the floor before I bought it. We rigged up a toggle switch to start the car after I lost the keys (the trunk has no lock). The transmission was replaced at some point, but to my knowledge the motor is original. The brakes are not locked up (it can be towed) and the engine isn’t locked up. Body: It needs bumpers and the interior is very rough –The body is solid except for a bad spot of rust on one of the back fenders (see photos) and a hole where someone SHOT MY CAR (grr..). The floorboards are rusting out. All the glass is present and intact - the side windows are tinted. Lovability: This car kicked butt! I didn't want to sell it for many years because I had dreams of fixing it up. But, I would rather see it go to someone with the time to work on it buy it as a project than have it sit and quietly rust.
