The general condition of this unrestored Porsche 928 is unbelievable. It has EVERYTHING in its original state even the floor mats, and everything is in original condition! It has always been stored in a climate controlled garage, and was carefully cared & maintained by a Porsche dealership its entire life. NOTE: It has all the maintenance records stamped by the dealership! Recently it has only been driven occasionally on a sunny day to keep the engine in tune, and it has always been stored carefully. For a near 40 year old car in original condition, it is immaculate inside and out. The interior smells of Porsche engineering! It has SUPER smooth and glossy paint with only a few VERY minor spots that show its patina yet these imperfections are really only noticeable from from very close up. NOTE: This 928 has not been restored. It has survived time and shows its age splendidly. It drives amazing!! Porsche utilized a transaxle in the 928 to help achieve 50/50 front/rear weight distribution, aiding the car's balance. Although it weighed more than the difficult-to-handle 911, its more neutral weight balance and higher power output gave it similar performance on the track. The engine has low miles on it (103,000). The 4.5L 219 HP / 268 lb ft. torque V8 engine starts immediately and rumbles with beautiful loping tones. It accelerates quick, and really moves. It drives laser straight and smooth! The lights all work and the headlights go up and down. Everything else appears to work nicely. The M28 engine has multiple unusual features. Its bore spacing is 122 mm, almost exactly the same size as a Chrysler 426 hemi or a big block Chevrolet engine. This engine uses thick aluminum cylinder barrels, hence the lower displacement. The engine was designed for air flow first, thus the spark plugs are located top of the head. The four-bolt main bearings are massive, and are fed oil via grooves in the bottom surface of the block. The oil and water pumps are powered by the timing belt, and the design of the engine allows for sufficient air flow with a very low hood. It has a wonderful patina and only shows it's age in a few spots. It has smooth and glossy, almost wet looking, paint as you can tell in the photos with only one or two minor spots that show its patina yet these imperfections are really only noticeable from inches away by a discerning eye. It appears to never been restored so what you see is only the result of great care over the years. An age of disco battling hard rock, and executives showing off their car phones! It is in original condition and a wonderful one at that. The premium leather seats are original high quality leather and have not cracked or torn. Although you will see the wear on the drivers seat, IT IS SOLID. The carpet is original and pretty much SPOTLESS. No smoking is evident.
