Vehicle Detail
My father had always driven Mercedes and I learned on a 1977 300D which he replaced with a new '82 300d turbo. I owned a 240 for a while and now drive a 300 CDI. While I am not a mechanic, I know enough to love these cars. I had purchased this car 2 years ago when my son got his drivers license but he preferred driving another one of our cars with a manual transmission. I drove it on the temp tags for 60 days with not a single problem, but since my son wasn't driving it, I pulled it into the garage where's it been sitting. While I might be missing something, here's a run down of the car. The car was sitting for 2 years, I replaced the battery and it started right upThe car's interior is in excellent condition and dash has no cracks, no teams in the seats. It feels great when you're in the carThe driver's window does not go down and the A/C needs a chargeThe automatic antenna goes down 50% of the wayThe vacuum locks do not work There's a lot of vibration and a rattle when the car is idling, but when it's running it goes away (starter or alternator?)The rubber on the rear bumper is coming off a bitThe paint has scratches all over it. I tried to show it in one of the picturesThere is a rust hole on the driver's front side (picture)The brakes occasionally lost pressureThe day I picked it up, I drove over a freshly painted street line and there is some white paint on the tiresThe car's prior owner had not driven it for a while, so I ended up putting in a new fuel filter, but I think it could use another replacementIf you know these cars, you know they are tanks. I think the prior owner was a retired military officer who took good care of the car since there are lots of service records and stickers for a local air force base. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll try and answer them as best as I can. On Sep-28-14 at 09:42:53 PDT, seller added the following information: The carfax is incorrect. The 1st owner of the car was a WW2 vet who drove it 120K miles until he died in 1995 and then it looks like his son purchased the car.
