Vehicle Detail

This car is the absolute center of attention wherever it goes. The headlines:3.0 1971 R (T)2.2 replaced with fresh build 1979 3.0 with Webbers, MSD, custom distributor, hydraulic tensioners etc etc.Rebuilt 1978 915 5 Speed gearboxComplete strip down, repaint and rebuildCustom interior The base car is a 1971 911 T. This car was stripped to a roller. All components, interior, panels, fenders, bumpers, doors, engine, transmission and glass were removed.. All of the above was stripped to bare metal and given the new green and white paint. We mixed the color to my choice but I do have the ‘recipe’. This work was done by APEX, A Denver CO body shop that specializes in 356’s, 911’s and even the odd F-40… Trunk and engine bay were not repainted. Pegasus decals, rear Nurbergring Emblem and new Porsche lettering and crest were then added along with engine bay stickers and miscellaneous other details. Yes those are ORIGINAL, genuine Cibie Pallas lights (not wired) – the yellow covers are replicas. These and the roll bar were also painted body color as were dash panels. The only previous rust repair found was a small patch in the pan of one of the rear seats. Rust repair done during the renovation was just the replacement of a front fender due to rust around the water trapping rear seam and the replacement of the front pan section as a ¾” line of rust was found near a front right torsion bar hole. A custom center fill tank was also built. As this required the later 74’-89’ gas tank this was sourced along with a replacement, collapsible spare wheel as the 71 full size spare now no longer fits. The 78 915 5 speed gearbox was rebuilt by Storz in Denver, a ‘Porsche 911 only’ shop of great repute. Several bearings and 1st / 2nd were replaced along with all hardware, seals etc. There is also a brand new WEVO Classic short shift assembly that gives an incredibly precise, short shift with absolutely no shifter play in any forward or reverse gear. The WEVO also has a reverse lockout feature. I have driven and owned many 915 and later 950 gearboxes and this is the nicest, cleanest shifting. The motor is a 3.0 from a 1979 SC (930-03, #639194). It was completely rebuilt with all new head studs and rings. Every piece of hardware, seal and gasket was also replaced. We also added later hydraulic chain tensioners and new chains to be safe. It has genuine Weber 40IDA 3c’s and I have all the venturi and needle data along with alternate sizes. The Weber’s were completely stripped, all plugs removed and all cross drillings re-drilled and re-plugged. (This solved an infuriating hesitation issue I had on #2 cylinder which was the result of a gunked up emulsion tube communication channel) The car also has MSD 6AL-6420 electronic ignition (I have always used the 6000 RPM redline chip for longevity but I also have the 6500 and 7000 RPM plugs). A custom Bosch distributor with a custom spring and weight system was built by Parts Classic in AZ to have the right advance curve for the engine build / webbers with purely mechanical advance. The car also has new Dansk 2 in 1 out muffler on the car and additional Dansk 2 in 2 out muffler. It currently has a rear panel on that works with both and I will include a brand new (unpainted panel that is not cut for the 2 in 2 out). The car also has a custom front mounted oil cooler and has never come close to getting hot even on spirited AR runs when it is 95Degrees and 90% humidity. (E.g. Engine was more comfortable than I was…) The car has Carrera struts and ‘S’ brakes up front. I also just replaced all shock absorbers with Bilstein HD’s. Torsion bars are upgraded to 28mm in the rear with front stock. There is also a Weltmeister adjustable front sway bar. No rear sway bar - all factory mounts do appear there although they may need banging back into shape. Wheels are genuine Fuchs deep 6’s all round with brand new, excellent Dunlops Direzza’s. The interior is all new and custom. It includes:New headliner professionally installed.New Appbiz lightweight carpet setRennline Floor board (Driver)Rennline Floor board (Passenger)Rennline Wiper motor coverMomo Prototipo & HubBig red oil light – original clock also includedRS America Door panelsRoll Bar matched to exterior colorLightweight ‘faux’ plastic vented rear quarter windows along with original glass.Custom painted metal trim to match exterior and tartan dash pad materialBF Torino Nurburgring seats and brand new Simspon 5 point harnessesNew thresholds / sill platesThe car also has a built in GPS tracker and key fob activatorNew door Seals, hood seals etc etc917 Style Shift KnobNew Durant Style Mirrors The car runs incredibly. It handles tightly, stops solidly and will sit at 90 all day on the highway without a shake or wobble. The 3.0 will bring a huge smile to your face any time you want. The car does not have a washer system (wipers work fine) and like all 911’s it blows warmer in the cabin. The rear heater boxes or cables may need rerunning. (All front heater box / vents were replaced)The car is directly comparable, and almost identical build to the one in prior sale Ebay item 171355172012 which sold for $67,000For more pictures see: For videos of a full walkaround and all types of driving see the links below: Walkaround from Sam Evans on Vimeo. I am willing to take it to any chosen inspection facility within 25 miles. There is only one Porsche specific (Porsche only) shop near Little Rock - Perfection Plus (Excellent). Although we only moved here from Denver a few months ago in full disclosure they do already know the car (and me) as they fitted the later style hydraulic lifters for me after my surgery and offered advice when I was chasing the issue with the hesitation on #2. (completely eradicated by ultimately drilling out all carb drillings and channels). The only other shop that I know that I believe occasionally does 911's is a British car shop (Blares, Blairs??) of whom I have no prior knowledge. There is also a VW/Audi dealer in town.I can arrange for an inspector to get to the car almost any time if at my home in Hillcrest, Little Rock, I could drop the car within 25 miles late on Wednesday, very early Thursday or next Monday.ThanksSamOn Sep-22-14 at 06:22:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Had a question about condition. I will give the best rundown I can but ultimately it is up to the buyer to have this assessed in any manor they see fit (nothing to hide whatsoever but have learnt that one mans 'barely audible squeak' is another mans nightmare. (no, there are not any squeaks) This is an expensive (far more than the Buy it now, even EXCLUDING thousands of hours of labor) and extensive restoration / modification of a 40+ year old car. While much is new some is still 40 years old... The paint is excellent (12 months old with <1500 miles). There is one small chip through the clear coat by the drivers door (less than 1/8"). There is also minor hairline paint cracking radiating about 1" from the dual exhaust cutouts. Unless you lie on the ground behind the car you cant see it and I am including a new panel if anyone wants no cutouts. I am also including a quart of the original paint and if ever needed in the future the 'recipe' for the color. There may also be minor rock-chips up front but I have not noticed any. The engine bay and trunk were not repainted at this time and have older, good condition black POR style paint on them. This also goes for the underside of the car though it looks like accessible areas were given a fresh overcoat. The motor is a rebuild with 1000 miles. It starts well (needs a little warming on a cold day like all carb-ed motors), idles at 1000 and revs and pulls cleanly to the 6000 RPM red line (See description on red line). It has stock cams and a re curved distributor to ensure it is as 'drivable' and 'torquey' low down as possible and is a great all rounder. It also runs incredibly when pushed... The gearbox was rebuilt less than 1500 miles ago by Storz and is rock solid. Clean shifts to every gear and I have had no issues whatsoever. Wiring is a splice of 71' and 79' harnesses by prior owner with original fuse block. All gauges, lights etc work as intended. Clock was replaced with big oil light but is included. The car does not have interior lights. The driver side seat is hard bolted to the floor to be low and solid. Anyone with an inseam from 30" to 36" seems fine but I could either include the sliders or fit for buyer to make it adjustable. The engine cut off switch and Cibie lights shown are both hard mounted but not wired in at this time. There are 2 new hood lift cylinders but with the weight of the Cibie's they cry uncle. As such buy a broomstick too.. All window / door seals were replaced. I am sure (I have honestly never driven it in the rain) they weep a little water here and there and like all 40 year cars it is best windows down as there is wind noise when up. On Sep-22-14 at 10:54:27 PDT, seller added the following information: New answer. When I say the drivers seat is 'hard bolted to the floor' what i mean is that it is in a fixed position and hard bolted to the factory rail mounts. The floor is not drilled (other than one hole each side for submarine harness trap) and the factory rail mounts are in place and unmolested. Sorry for the confusion!
