2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, 202,000 miles, excellent condition! I bought this car at auction using a friends dealership about a year and a half ago. The car had a salvage title when I bought it, honestly I have no idea why it was issued a salvage title. When I bought the car it had a broken timing belt and a dent I didn't even notice in the rear trunk. Assuming it was going to need a cylinder head I bought a replacement head before I even tore into it. Surprisingly the only damage was a slightly bent valve, no damage to the piston or the head but since I had the new head I installed it anyway. Along with the timing belt I replaced the serpentine belt, idler pulleys and water pump. This was all done at about 190,000 miles. I also replaced the trunk, the dent was minimal but because of the location of the dent it was much easier to just replace it than repair. The paint was faded on the top of the car and the hood (typical of old clear coat) so I repainted the trunk, top and hood of the car. Along with these things it also has new tires and battery. The automatic transmission was just serviced, flushed and new filter, it shifts as it should, no problems at all. The interior is clean, no rips in the leather, very little wear, quite nice, no cracks in the dash, everything looks great! Sunroof works, air blows very cold. My son has been driving this car for the past year and a half without any problems whatsoever, he has a job now and has moved on to something newer. I have driven this for the past few months and it is a great car, I feel like because of the fuel mileage I should keep it but due to my job I need a wagon or SUV! The mileage is great, 40+ mpg and a great highway ride, I will miss that! The only problems with the car is the air bag light is on, typical for a car this age (airbags have never been deployed, check carfax) and the windshield washer resevoir has a leak, again typical of these cars. Besides these two things I really can't think of anything this car needs, these engines easily make 400.000 miles so it has a lot of life left!
