NGDCARS Store 1972 Lincoln Continental Triple Black Mark IV 38,676 Miles 1972 Lincoln Continental Triple Black Mark IV 38,676 Miles This was the first year for the Mark IV. As a result, this was the only year that it didn't a humungous collision absorption bumpers. The collision bumpers not only are monstrous and look tacked on, but they also shorten the front grill making this the premium year for the Mark IV. The Mark IV was a huge styling departure from all previous Lincolns. Swoopier and sexier, it was truly a milestone in styling. Although the Lincoln carried the same platform as the Thunderbird, these cars were very much more Lincoln than Ford. Sound insulation, super high grade leathers, fit and finish far above Cadillac and Chrysler standards made this a true Lincoln, not a Thunderbird with a Lincoln grill. Yet, it's sporty styling was a complete departure from traditional. About the car: This super low mileage car presents in the interior and under-hood as a true low mileage automobile. However, at some point in its life, the hood was painted, and the top of the grill is not as nice as I would like it to be. I think that the repairs were done probably at the time of sale to please a finicky customer but now the repainted hood is starting to age. The Triple Black color makes this vehicle stand out but it also makes the hood flaw stand out. The interior is PRISTINE and stunning. Along with the dealer hood repair, it appears that a right hand mirror has been added to the car sometime in its history as 1972's were not available with a right hand mirror. The 460 V8 is strong and tight and all the other mechanical around it act like the 32k miles it has. Under-hood presents as original and well kept - the valve covers showing just a tiny bit of paint wear. What's Wrong: Hood paint, header chips, bubbling starting at rear window. (All Pictured) The miles sell this car - combined with the fact that most of these cars are in the junk yard or so far gone as to never be resurrected has made me live happily with the defects on this car rather than destroy the sanctity of originality. As the saying goes, "they are only original once". Who am I? My name is Dave. I have been restoring cars for 35 years. My first collector car was when I was 15 years old. I've had three major collections and now it's time to sell my last one. My personal taste run to the eclectic. I have picked out or restored these vehicles to be some of the finest in the world of these types. I was a Dodge dealer for 27 years, selling 1600 to 2000 cars a year - that was my business. These cars are my passion. See my other listings for more great items! Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time.
