Vehicle Detail

GENERAL – If you are looking for a classic, comfortable, powerful, fun and affordable car that you can start showing and cruising with from the time you take delivery, then this may just be the one for you. The car belongs to a neighbor of mine. It was a one owner and belonged to his 104 year old friend who was an executive for the Northwest States Bell Telephone Company. The car has 31,000 miles on it and has lived its life in rust free dry Montana. It is a 1975 Lincoln Continental 2 door pillared, Town Coupe, version of which they did not make many. It has the signature of an older person’s ownership with lots of little nuances. It is still completely stock and all the little things to include the eight track player, AM/FM sound system still work. As a bonus you will even get an Andy Williams and a Henry Mancini 8 track. BODY and PAINT – This is virtually a rust free car from Montana where we use no salt and the winters as well as summers are very dry. It has some very minor scratches, blemishes, rock chips and one small dent in the driver’s front fender as well as some door scratches where they opened their other car door against it. Most of these small things can be corrected by a good detail shop, but I mention them to be completely honest. The car was never wrecked nor were any panels painted for any reason. The paint still shines nicely as it has had a lot a years of wax and care. The chrome is excellent and all the garnish/moldings, and there are many, are all intact and in great condition. There is no broken or cracked glass, a unique glass feature of this classic is the vent windows are also power. All lights function properly. The tires are good, are the proper size whitewalls and even the original wheel covers are all present. Most commendable is, the original fender skits are still there. Of interest is the trunk, it is also carpeted, as well the spare tire and secondary fuel tank. Most of these cars have rust under the landau top, but this one due to being garaged always, has no such evidence. MECHANICAL - The engine is a 4 barrel, 460 CID (7.5 L), that starts good in the winter and summer, idles well and does not miss. It has Fords smooth automatic transmission that shifts smoothly, yet has a powerful passing gear. This car, along with the Corvette, was among the first to ever have 4 wheel power disc power brakes. The fuel tank has been removed cleaned and resealed and the carburetor has been rebuilt. Also recent work has been accomplished on the AC system to ensure it functions as designed, and the car has had a recent service to include oil change. INTERIOR –The interior is immaculate. It appears it may have been a non smoking car; the ash tray shows no use at all. The original dash is in beautiful condition and no aftermarket installations have been done. All factory gauges, speedometer and instruments function properly, with the exception of the clock. The car has what appears to be the original key and owner’s manual. There are no rips, tares or blemishes in the gorgeous cloth interior. This car is so comfortable, at 90 miles an hour with the AC in the summer and heater in the winter it is like driving your living room. SUMMARY: This beautiful Lincoln Town Coupe is an excellent example of originality. If you use the classic car guide rating system, I would rate this car is solid # 2.5. If you are not familiar, a #1 is a show car with absolute no dirt or dust on the undercarriage, everything literally is perfect. It is always trailered to a show. A number two is almost as good good, it is an original or very well done restoration and is driven on the street in tours parades and maybe 800 – 1000 miles a year for pleasure. Of course the scale goes down to #6 which is an old parts car. With the smallest amount of detail this car can be a show winner anywhere anytime. It is totally drivable and can be enjoyed from the day you take delivery of it. Think of the fun you will have showing up at your local car show with this beautiful car. PAYMENT, DISCLAIMERS, STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION – Well I have tried to represent the old car as honestly and accurately as I can; please read the description carefully and look closely at the pictures. We require a non refundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours of the sale and the remainder in cashier’s check or personal check (once it clears), wire transfer or cash in person, and please no PayPal for final payment. The car must be paid for prior to us mailing the title, if you are sending after the car. The car is sold as is and where is with no warrantee or guarantee specified or implied. It is after all a 39 year old mechanical contrivance and things can and will go wrong. We prefer not to store the car because of worry of responsibility; however we will work with you for a little while as long as the car is paid in full. I am very proud of my 100% rating and will answer any questions and be the go between you and my friend, or if you prefer you may talk to him directly. I may post some of the questions so that others may benefit from the Q&A. I do have a truck and trailer, and time permitting, could help by delivering or meeting you part way for $1.25 per loaded mile, within a reasonable distance; please San Francisco, Miami, and Pakistan are not reasonable driving distances from Clancy, Montana. Good luck with your bidding and thank you for your interest.
