Vehicle Detail

Here is a nice clean 1974 AMC Matador Brougham Wagon with 65,800 Miles... wearing it's Original Factory applied Code "H8" Autumn Red Metallic Paint and Beautiful Original Saddle Interior. This is a clean Rust Free Original Paint, Original Sheet Metal AMC Wagon with 3 Seats that spent most of it's life down South thus the awesome rust free body. This Matador Brougham Wagon is unusual in that it's optioned with the "Brougham" Package which in most cases got you the Wood Grain Sides but this 1974 AMC Matador Brougham Wagon was ordered in straight Autumn red Metallic Paint without any of the Woodgrain ....pretty cool in my opinion and just a matter of personal taste by it's original owner who ordered this cool rust free Matador Wagon from an American Motors Dealership in Tennessee. This Matador Brougham Wagon is Loaded with Cool Options and is Powered by the 360 4 Barrel engine that runs flawlessly and 727 Automatic Transmission that shifts perfectly! The Matador Wagon is well equipped with Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power Tailgate Window, Cruise Control, Tilt Steering Column, AM-FM Stereo, Remote Drivers Side Mirror, Roof Rack, Rear Roof Mounted Wind Deflector, Bumper Guards, Door Edge Guards, Working Factory Air Conditioning, Body Side Moldings, 2 Way Tailgate, Tinted Glass, Passenger Side Sun Visor Vanity Mirror, Fully Reclining Bucket Seats, Rear or 3rd Seat making this Wagon comfortable for 9 Passengers, Dash Mounted AMC Compass, Removable Door Panel Mounted Map Pockets and the Rare AMC Rally Wheels... Front & Rear Heavy Duty Sway Bars, Full Dual Exhaust and much more .... just a wonderful running, driving Classic AMC Matador Wagon that will take you anywhere in comfort! This 1975 AMC Matador Wagon is an Excellent Running and Driving car that starts easily and sounds awesome. The 360-4 Barrel engine always starts easily and runs very well with no unusual noises or smoke.... pulls hard under acceleration and cruises beautifully whether your driving around town or cruising along the Highway at 75 mph....just a wonderful cruiser at any speed and an absolute pleasure to drive! On Aug-10-14 at 22:31:40 PDT, seller added the following information: THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AT THE AUCTION FOR MY 1975 AMC MATADOR WAGON. PLEASE CHECK THE MANY PICTURES BELOW THE LONG DESCRIPTION BELOW. I'M SURE THAT MOST OF YOUR QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED BETWEEN THE DESCRIPTION & THE MANY PHOTOS. THANK YOU! This 1975 AMC Matador Wagon is a solid Southern car that I purchased from a life-long diehard AMC enthusiast from Kentucky and he owned the Wagon for approximately 3 years. He purchased the Wagon from an AMC enthusiast in Tennessee where the Wagon spent most of it's life. This 1975 AMC Matador Brougham Wagon is an Original Paint, Original Sheet Metal Southern car with a Wonderful Color Combination and a long list of cool Options.... I purchased this nicely optioned Matador Brougham Wagon over a year ago and it has been trouble free. This is a drive anywhere car that has been extremely reliable and a true pleasure to drive. I have owned my share of cool AMC & Rambler products over the last 35+ years and this is undoubtedly the nicest driving car of the bunch. This is a well cared for, straight and exceptionally solid Southern AMC that is a true pleasure to drive. The Matador Wagon has a long list of options and absolutely every single thing works on this car with the exception of the Cruise Control but I have a replacement piece for the part that failed and it will go with the Wagon along with many other cool pieces. The car needs absolutely nothing to be enjoyed now although I would eventually replace the tires as they are older now and although they still show plenty of tread, they are 10+ years old. This Wagon has all working Lights and Signals from the Turn Signals to the Brake Lights and even the Dash Lights, interior Dome Light & under Dash Courtesy Lights... Factory AM-FM Stereo works and even the Factory Air Conditioning Blows Cold...in fact I drove the Wagon quite a bit last Summer and the Air Conditioning was always on and Blowing Colder than my late model daily driver! This is a great Classic Matador Wagon with a timeless look and a Beautiful Original Body & Interior... runs about as good as they get and will take you anywhere in comfort. Please read on and check out the many pictures below. Thanks for looking. Call Tony 215-499-2693 with any questions. This Wagon runs very well and drives quite nicely and doesn't need anything to be driven and enjoyed now although the tires are older and should probably be replaced at some time in the future. The Tires still have plenty of tread...just older. The Matador Wagon is a true Southern car and I have some paperwork including the Clear title in my name, Owners Manual, Sales Brochure, Original 1975 AMC Matador Service Specifications Manual along with some receipts for various repairs, new exhaust and maintenance items. PAINT & BODY The Paint and Body are very Original with what appears to be all of it's Original Sheet Metal and Original Autumn Red Metallic Paint with the Original Gold Pinstriping. I say "appears" to be Original because it is a 40 year old Wagon and since I didn't buy it new, I can't say for sure whether any work was done to the car early in it's life but after owning the car for over a year now and looking the car over fairly well, I don't see any indication of any sheet metal replacement or paint work...looks to be all Original Body & Paint to me and that's how it was represented when I purchased the Wagon. The Body is straight with no sign of any repairs and this car has The Body on this 1975 Matador Wagon is super solid and typical of a car that spent most of it's life down South. The car is exceptionally solid from the Front Fenders to the Rear Tailgate and everything in between... even the undercarriage shows quite a bit of the Original Autumn Red Metallic Paint on the frame rails and floor pans. This is just a nice solid car! The Body is nice and straight although there are a few small dings including 2 small dings/dents on the Tailgate. I believe these are the result of backing the car into a garage and getting too close to something in the garage as both of these spots are quite close to one another.... minor stuff but nonetheless, they are there. The Original Chrome and Trim are in fairly nice original condition with nice original Chrome Bumpers...not new but the Bumpers still have a clean overall appearance and the same goes for most of the trim on the Wagon... all in fairly nice original condition. Some of you may have noticed the beautiful 74 style Matador grill in the car and that was a matter of personal preference by the previous owner... he liked the 74 Matador Wagon grill and I feel exactly the same...just a far more attractive grill than the 1975 Matador grill in my opinion but you can have it either way as the nice Original 75 grill will go with the car as well. This is a very cool car with a very nice overall appearance and a nice solid Original Body. The Paint on this Matador Brougham Wagon is the Original Code "H8" Autumn Red Metallic and it has a pretty good shine although there are sections along the tops of the Fenders, Doors and Hood where the paint has gone very thin. The pictures will show these thin areas but I think these areas give the Wagon true character ... in fact some guys actually go to the trouble of reproducing this look on some classic Wagons while the Original Autumn Red Metallic Paint on this Matador Wagon has developed a very cool patina over the last 40 years. The Autumn Red Metallic paint which is much like a Bronze/Red Metallic has a nice shine on the other sections of the car although the pictures don't show the car as well as I would have liked......either way I think you'll get the idea as the pictures are fairly accurate! The Glass is in Good shape with no major issues from front to rear. The Rear Tailgate Glass goes down from the Factory Dash Mounted Switch just as it should and the Tailgate opens both out and down....the 2 Way Tailgate is a nice piece as it allows loading or unloading without having to work hard extending your body to get cargo into the rear with the extra length of the Tailgate in the way....just open the Tailgate with it's secondary handle and the Tailgate Swings open. The Optional Original Roof Rack and Rear Roof Mounted Wind Deflector are in good shape and give the Matador Wagon that cool old school look that so many of us AMC & Wagon enthusiast can appreciate as these truly bring us back to the early days of our childhood...nothing like sitting in the 3rd seat of a Classic Wagon and looking at the traffic coming toward you from behind. I can't tell you how many Wagon's that my large family had while we were growing up but I can remember at least 5 .... ok, that's 5 Classic Wagons that I can remember for my family of "10" so you know that we always had a Wagon in front of the house at any given time everything from a 1965 Rambler Classic Town & Country Wagon to a 1966 Ford Country Squire 10 Passenger Wagon to the 1959 Plymouth Wagon and even the 1969 Pontiac Catalina Wagon... always used Wagons in my home that were usually purchased from another member of our large exceptionally large extended family!!! Anyway..... nothing quite like the family trips to the Jersey Shore and the many vacations to the Pocono Mountains when we were kids and always in a cool Wagon!!!! INTERIORThe Interior in this 1975 AMC Matador Brougham Wagon is in very nice condition with absolutely no major issues anywhere. The Seats are all in nice condition with the Front Seats being two large wide Fully Reclining Bucket Seats with Adjustable Headrest. The Seats are nice and clean with little if any wear although there is just the slightest hint of color fade on the drivers side front. It's barely noticeable but I thought I'd mention it. The Seats are Nice guys and they recline just as they were intended and are very comfortable. The Dash Pad and Instrument Cluster are very Nice.. no cracks or damage to the Dash Pad....clean original Instrument Cluster and all working Gauges. All of the Switches work as they should from the Optional Delayed Windshield Wipers to the Headlight Switch, Speedometer, Heater/Defroster and Air Conditioning...AM-FM Stereo works as it should. The under Dash Courtesy Lights work fine as does the Dome Light....just a nice clean car with just about everything working as it should and absolutely no wiring issues or gremlins...a good low mile car. The Carpets are in nice shape. The Door Panels are all nice with clean Original Carpeted Lower Door Panels and Nice Original Armrest... Nice Original Pull Straps on all four Doors. The Sun Visors and Headliner are all very nice. The Interior Cargo area Vinyl side Panels are in nice shape.. good and clean as the pictures will show. The Middle seat is exceptionally nice and folds down as it should to create a large cargo area. The Third Seat is nice although it does have a little poke hole that's not very noticeable ... it was my fault as I left something in the Rear seat area and forgot as I folded the seat down.... it's very minor and you'd probably just leave it alone but I wanted to mention it. The Rear Tailgate and Cargo area Carpets are all in good shape for a 40 year old Wagon. I wouldn't touch anything back there...just enjoy it! Overall the Interior in this 1975 AMC Matador Brougham Wagon is pretty darn nice and I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this old girl....just a great old Wagon that turns heads every where I go....just gotta love these Classic Wagons. Electrical Components The Electrical Components and Options on this car are all in good working order with the exception of the Cruise Control but I have replacement parts to make the Cruise Control an easy fix. The Headlights, Parking Lights, Turn Signals, Brake Lights, Dash Lights, Side Marker Lights work as they should, Dome Light & Under Dash Courtesy Lights, Horn, Heater/Defroster, Speedometer, Gas Gauge, Water Temperature Gauge, Odometer, Tun Signal Cancellator all work as they should. The Air Conditioning works great and Blows Nice Cold Air that will keep you cool even on the hottest day!!! The Dash Mounted Tailgate Window Switch works great with the window going up and down just fine. The Matador Wagon has absolutely all electrical components working as they should with the exception of the Cruise Control. Just the way you like them... no electrical gremlins and the Air Conditioning working as it should. The Tilt Steering Column works perfectly with no issues. I Engine, Transmission and Rear The engine runs beautifully and starts easily with a couple of pumps of the Gas pedal and it fires right up and runs great. There are no unusual noises and no smoke. The engine performs exactly as it should with plenty of power through the power band and excellent acceleration at all speeds. The Transmission is the 3 speed Automatic 727 TorqueFlite and it shifts flawlessly. The Rear makes no unusual noises and is believed to have the 3.15 gears although they could be the 2.87's.... I just can't remember. I can tell you that one of the common things to go on these cars is the Rear Axle Bearings and Seals and I had them all replaced last Summer as they were starting to make some noise. I also had all New Brakes installed on the Wagon at that time so there are not more than 1,500 miles on the Brakes and Rear Axle Bearings. The engine, transmission and rear are trouble free guys with no issues to speak of....runs awesome, shifts perfectly and drives beautifully whether your cruising around town or cruising down the highway at 75 mph.....just an excellent driving Vintage Wagon. The car Tracks nice and Straight and the Front Power Disc Brakes will stop on a dime. The Power Steering makes for easy turns at just about any speed and the Big Front Factory Sway Bar and the Over-size Rear Sway Bar that was added to the Wagon make a huge difference in the way that the car handles. This is a beautiful piece that works as it should and is another of those hard to find pieces if you ever had to find one...to the right is the original AM-FM Stereo that works just fine although I think one of the Speakers should be replaced at some point. It's fine for cruising around and listening to the AM or FM Tunes but if you wanted it to sound stronger then you'd probably want to replace one of the speakers as it seems a little weaker than the other....Radio works fine and the FM Stereo Light comes on in Bright Green on the Right side of the Dial.... notice how nice the original Woodgrain Dash Bezels are around the Radio and Instrument Cluster!ABOVE: The Original American Motors AM-FM Stereo has a very nice look and works just fine! You'll notice some reflections in the paint on the quarter panel but that's all they are, reflections. The Paint on this Wagon is Original and shows nicely with the exception of some of the faded upper surfaces which are contained to small areas and actually look very cool. I wouldn't touch a thing!!! ABOVE: ABOVE: This photo shows the nice engine compartment although it could use a little detailing....everything is nice and orderly and there are new hoses, radiator and even a Transmission Cooler was installed to further the life of the Transmission. The engine runs beautifully and makes loads of power and the 727 Automatic Transmission shifts like new! There are absolutely no rust issues in the common rust areas so no worries there.. remember this is an incredibly solid Southern car that is rock solid and wearing it's original paint..no rust anywhere in the engine compartment! I have the Original Emissions Pump and other Emissions Parts that will go with the car...the original Exhaust Manifolds with the Emission Tubes are still in place!ABOVE: The Emissions Decal is in nice shape!ABOVE: The Rear of the Wagon shows the nice rust free Tailgate and the working Taillights. There are a couple of small dings on the upper left middle of the Tailgate and some fading of the Paint along the top center of the Tailgate...great patina!!!ABOVE:The Rear of the Wagon with the Tailgate Window downABOVE: The Roof with the Rear Wind Deflector and the Roof RackABOVE: The Passenger side Rear Quarter Panel with the Exhaust Tip exiting between the Rear Tire and the Rear Bumper...they exhaust is done beautifully with the Tips exiting in the same location and on the same angle on both sides of the car. The Full Boar Performance Mufflers with the Free Flowing Dual Exhaust sounds awesome. This sounds more like a 390 Powered AMX than a 360 Powered Matador Wagon!!!ABOVE: The Drivers side Rear Quarter Panel showing the Chrome Exhaust Tip from the Full Boar Performance Mufflers and the Free Flowing Dual Exhaust exits at the identical place on both sides of the Wagon between the Rear Tire and the Rear Bumper. This Exhaust System is beautifully done and the installation was a true work of art....perfectly symmetrical and sounds awesome!!! Notice the Original 'UNLEADED FUEL ONLY" Decal below the Spring Loaded Gas Filler Door... Original Paint and Original decal!ABOVE: No rust issues on the underside of this Matador Wagon... Original Autumn Red Metallic Paint can be found on the Frame Rails and Floor Pans throughout the undercarriage of the carABOVE: I could have gone under the Wagon and literally polished up sections of the undercarriage but you get the idea... it's rock solid. I have not steam cleaned or touched the undercarriage for that matter but it will clean up nicely with much of the original factory applied paint still showing on the Rails and FloorsABOVE: The large Rear Sway Bar was installed to make the Wagon a better all around handling car and it surely made the difference. ABOVE: The emblem on the Tailgate from States Motor Co Inc, Bristol Tennessee ... old school emblem made of Chrome Plated Metal..... the previous owner from Kentucky purchased the car around 2009-2010 and I purchased the car in June of 2013. It is said to have been a Tennessee car from new and by the look of the body, I'm sure it was a Southern car. I also have the name and phone number of the previous owner. I don't think he would have any problem talking with the new owner about the Wagon. Thanks again for looking and the best of luck!!!On Aug-11-14 at 10:46:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks again for all of the interest in the 1975 Matador Brougham Wagon. This is a very cool Wagon and very unusual with it's Original Autumn Red Metallic Paint and Saddle Interior along with it's long list of optional equipment. Just in case you didn't catch it the first time or in case I missed something, let me cover those options again.... Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power Tailgate Window, 2 Way Tailgate, Tilt Steering Column, Cruise Control, AM-FM Stereo, Air Conditioning, Tinted Glass, Roof Rack, Rear Roof Mounted Air Deflector, Front & Rear Bumper Guards, Body Side Moldings, Factory Mag Style Wheels, Brougham Package with Fully Reclining Full Size Bucket Seats & Adjustable Headrest, Removable Door Panel Storage Pockets, Delayed Windshield Wipers, Door Edge Guards, Courtesy Lights, Sun Visor Vanity Mirror, Dash Mounted Compass, Drivers Side Remote Mirror, 3rd Seat "Rear Facing", Front & Rear Sway Bars, Full Boar Performance Dual Exhaust and more....just a cool nicely optioned Matador Wagon in it's awesome Original Autumn Red Metallic Paint. The lack of the Woodgrain sides make this an unusual Matador Brougham Wagon as all of the Matador Wagon's that I've seen in the past with the exception of one other were equipped with the Woodgrain sides. Don't get me wrong, I like the Woodgrain sides but I think it works better with some paint & interior colors more-so than others...I just happen to like this Wagon just the way it is.This Wagon is an excellent driver that can be enjoyed reliably now and would be a great car to use for cruise-night or cruise-in events or just an awesome weekend driver. The car is a real treat to drive and is one of the nicest driving Classic cars that I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The 360 engine runs nicely and makes plenty of power and the automatic transmission shifts perfectly. There is a Transmission Cooler to keep the fluids cooler and extend the life of the transmission. I like transmission coolers on my cars so it was a bonus when I found out that the previous owner had already installed a quality transmission cooler. The Matador Wagon is a fun driver with a really solid body. The car shows no exterior rust or previous rust repair and I couldn't find any evidence of any previous collision damage or any sheet metal replacement. The undercarriage has no rust issues with much of the factory Autumn Red Metallic Paint showing on the frame rails and floor pans. There are some areas on the undercarriage that show surface rust and such as you are likely to find on any 40 year old car but rest assured this Wagon has no rust issues or at least nothing that I'm aware of and I'm fairly picky. Just check my feedback and you'll see that I go to great length to represent anything that I list on ebay to the best of my ability. The interior is really clean for a 40 year old Wagon with no major issues. The Front Seats show nicely with minimal wear and I don't believe there are any rips or tears on the Front Seats. The Carpets, Headliner & Sun Visors are all in great original condition. The Middle Seat is exceptionally nice and Rear Facing 3rd Seat is in nice condition although there is a very small split in bottom cushion of the 3rd rear facing seat. It's minor and it's something that I did by being careless... no big deal but it's there. The Door Panels are very nice and have nice Original Armrest and Clean Original Pull Straps on all four panels. The Carpeting at the Bottom of the Door Panels is nice and overall the Panels look great. There is one spot on the drivers side front door panel about the size of a pea but otherwise the door panels are excellent. The Original Kick Panels and Lower Dash section are excellent and the Rear Interior and Cargo area Trim Panels are in good shape. The Dash Pad and Instrument Cluster are super nice with no cracks or damage. The Instrument Cluster has a woodgrain block-off plate to the far right where the optional factory Clock would have been installed and in that plate there is a newer mechanical Water Temperature Gauge in place that was done in a professional manner. It works great and looks even better. This was done because the factory Temperature Gauges can often be misleading although the factory gauge seems to be working just fine. It was done as a precautionary measure and if you don't like the mechanical Water Temperature Gauge then you can remove it and install an original Block Off Plate that will go with the car. I believe I have an Original in Dash Clock as well so you can install either the Clock or the Block-off plate. I will have to check to be sure but I'm fairly sure that I have both the Clock & Block-Off plate in Woodgrain. There are some other cool parts that will go with the Wagon....not that they are needed but it's always nice to have extra parts for these Classic AMC's. The car comes with the replacement parts to get the Cruise Control working again as this is the only accessory that is not working properly. I also have a nice 1975 Matador grill with Headlight Bezels that will go with the car as well as the factory Smog Pump and other Emissions parts. The Original Autumn Red Metallic Paint on the Matador Wagon actually shines up nicely and looks great but there are some spots along the front of the hood and some of the edges along the top surfaces that show a very cool kind of fading....in fact I have seen some guys duplicate this style of paint fade on other Wagons and Classic Trucks over the years. The Paint shows a great patina that really has to be seen to be fully appreciated. The car is nice and clean and will be ready to go when the new owner takes delivery of the Wagon. Please ask any questions before you bid and feel free to call me, Tony at 215-499-2693 Thanks so much for all of the kind emails along with your many questions and especially for your bids.... Tony 215-499-2693 One more thing... I'm just outside of Philly PA in Bensalem PA 19020 .. I'm just minutes from the Pennsylvania & New Jersey Turnpikes and Interstate 95 so I'm fairly easy to get to from just about anywhere. If you want to talk about the car then your welcome to call me up to 11.30 pm est and if you would like to come and see the car in person before you bid then please give me a call and we can make arrangements to get together. If you need help with having the Wagon shipped then just let me know and I will help in any way possible. I know several reputable insured professional auto transporters who can deliver the car to your home at a reasonable rate. Let me know if you need any help or have any questions or concerns. Thanks again. On Aug-13-14 at 14:20:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I'm adding some photos of the 1975 AMC Matador Brougham Wagon that were sent to me when I purchased the car and I'm also adding some photos of the paperwork as well as a list of parts that have been replaced in the last few years.....all of the parts listed have a 2,000-3,000 miles at the most. Please ask questions before you bid. Thanks again for all of the interest and good luck bidding. COOL!ABOVE: The 1975 Matador Brougham Sedan in the "H9" Silver Dawn Metallic Paint... check out the grill in the Matador Sedan and the grills in the Matador Coupe's and you'll see that they are completely different. The 1975 Matador Sedans & Wagon's shared the same grill and I think you'll agree that the 1975 grill was not nearly as attractive as the 1974 grill. The Wagon will come with 2 grills so you have your choice as to which style grill you'd like in the car.I prefer the 74 grill!ABOVE: The Wagon on top is a Matador Brougham Wagon with the Optional Woodgrain sides and shown in the "G6" Sienna Orange Paint... pretty cool Wagon in a great color and below you see the "G9" Medium Blue Metallic Paint Matador Wagon...both Wagons have the optional Roof Rack with the Blue Wagon showing the Rear Roof Mounted Wind Deflector.. both have the standard hubcapsABOVE: Some of the interior options are the Black nylon knit fabric Oleg Cassini Matador Coupe shown in the upper left and the Matador X Blue Vinyl Bucket seats shown on the top right along with the Green Soft-Touch Vinyl on the lower left and the Tan Hyde Park fabric shown on the lower right. The car still polishes up beautifully as you can see but the thin spots along the top of the hood, fender, door and tailgate edges are difficult to see. The car still shows nicely with great patina!ABOVE: The Wagon shown from the drivers side frontABOVE: Another from the passenger side frontABOVE: The Original Carpets, Seats, Dash & Door Jamb are shown...nice clean car!!!ABOVE: The drivers side rear quarter panel shows nicely with no rust and the original wheel opening moldings are in place...rare optional Road Wheels are very cool & look great on the Wagon.. Notice the original UNLEADED FUEL ONLY decal shown on the quarter just above the Side Molding and below the Gas Door .... Original Autumn Red Metallic Paint still shines up nicely but has some faded areas as mentioned earlier. Just a Cool Classic AMC Wagon and a blast to drive. The Wagon will be cleaned up nicely inside & out before the New Caretaker takes possession of their new toy! The Vin Plate is Original and clean and as you can see, absolutely no rust around the Dash!! The Original Tan Colored Finish on the Steel section of the Dash and on the Dash Pad are excellent and original! On Aug-13-14 at 19:36:20 PDT, seller added the following information: This 1975 AMC Matador Brougham has a 360 engine with a Torque-Command Transmission which is a 3 Speed 727 Automatic Transmission. These Transmissions are bullet-proof and the transmission in this Wagon is excellent! The 360 cubic inch engine runs excellent although it is not original to the car. The previous owner, a lifelong AMC enthusiast said that the original 304 was replaced with a correct low mile 360 of the same era..in fact I believe he said it has a casting date of late 1974.... December 1974 if I remember correctly although I will check tomorrow to be absolutely sure. I will post more information tomorrow including the casting number, casting date and will attempt to take photos of the numbers on the Block.... Another thing, it is my understanding that the only 1975 AMC Matador's delivered with the "P" Code 360-4v engine were Police cars or Matadors with the Police Package. I have seen several earlier Matador Police Package cars over the years but never a 1975 although I'm sure they're out there. The 360 engine in this Wagon runs great and it drives very nicely....accelerates great and is a real pleasure. There are many receipts for repairs or parts that were replaced over the last few years including all new hoses, new shocks, new Dual Exhaust that was done with Full Boar Performance Mufflers and it sounds awesome. The car has new brakes, new front disc brake calipers, new wheel cylinders, new brakes shoes in the rear and pads in the front... new 3 core radiator... new overflow bottle....Transmission Cooler... Transmission was Serviced.... all Fluids were changed... New Rear Axle Bearings done last Fall and many other replacements parts and maintenance items. It's a wonderful running and driving Wagon with a nice clean interior. The body is exceptionally solid and wearing it's original Autumn Red Metallic Paint and the Original Gold Pinstriping on the Hood.....the paint is thin on some areas of the Hood, Fender Tops, Door Edges & Tailgate but it's thin and worn in a very cool kind of way that looks almost intentional ..... it's just original as far as the paint goes but it cleans up beautifully and never fails to draw a crowd. This is a very cool and interesting Wagon... I'd prefer not to use the word rare to describe the Wagon but there are not very many of these 1975 AMC Matador Brougham Wagons left and especially without the Woodgrain option.... pretty interesting Wagon with it's long list of options and will make the next caretaker a fun & reliable cruiser. I have far more into this Wagon than the very reasonable reserve so someone will get a really cool car at a super fair price .... with the rusted out Mustang Fastback's with no drivetrain bringing 10,000 and 1970 Barracuda's with a slant 6 bring North of $15,000 needing a restoration and 1969 Rambler ScRambler 390's bring upwards of $50,000, well it just makes me think that there are some really good deals out there and I believe this is one of them... a great cruiser Wagon that's loaded with options and Cold Factory Air Conditioning... ready to enjoy now... well it just doesn't get any better! This 1975 Matador Wagon is by no means a perfect car... it is an original paint Wagon with a nice interior and loads of options but it has a very cool look and runs, drives, stops, steers and handles very well. I'm sure the next caretaker will be quite happy with the Wagon is her or she has reasonable expectations. I'm quite picky when it comes to these old cars and this Wagon is an inexpensive Cruiser that I hope finds a new home with someone that will love it as much as I do... like I said, it's not restored and it's not perfect but it's a really cool car that I wouldn't hesitate to drive cross country tomorrow! Please call Tony 215-499-2693 with any questions or concerns. Thanks again for your emails, phone calls and especially your bids. Good Luck ...HIGH BIDDER IS THE NEXT CARETAKER OF THIS COOL WAGON!!! ps, I have many nice used Parts that will go with this Wagon... some New and nice used original parts that are just extra's and since these cars are getting hard to find, it's always a good thing to have some extra's. I have the original Snog equipment and the parts needed to repair the Cruise Control which I believe is the only non-working options or accessory in this Wagon! I have the original grill and many other parts!!! One more thing, the passenger side rear door glass is a little temperamental but I have extra parts that will remedy any issues. This is a get it and drive car! On Aug-14-14 at 00:00:38 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine is absolutely 360 cubic inch as confirmed by the "360" cast into the side of the Block behind the motor mount. I didn't spend much time looking for the date code on the Block but I did decode the Valve Cover tag which appears to have been on the engine forever and it reads "912N20" Decoded: 9= 1969 12= 12th Month/December N= Engine Code for a 360 2 Barrel Engine circa 1970 20= 20th day of the Month so what we have is a December 20, 1969 Build 360 cubic inch N Code engine for a 1970 car. The 1970 "N" Code 360 2 Barrel engine was rated at 245 Horsepower with 365 ft lb of Torque .... much higher rating than the 1975 "H" Code 304 2 Barrel engine rated at 150 Horsepower or the 1975 "P" Code 360 4 Barrel Dual Exhaust Police Package engine rated at 220 Horsepower. The bottom line is that the engine in the car appears to be a 1970 360 2 Barrel "N" Code rated at 245 Horsepower and it runs well...... I hope that wasn't too confusing but to keep it simple, the engine in the Wagon is a strong running 1970 AMC 360 2 Barrel engine. My apologies for any confusion. I've owned the Wagon for over a year and the only thing that was really important to me when I purchased it was that it was super solid, ran and drove well and that it had working air conditioning. I wasn't really concerned with much of anything else. I knew that I could always paint the Wagon if the faded edges bothered me and the car had a clean body and interior so I was quite happy. I actually like the interesting faded top edges & corners in the paint....strangely enough there is no real fading on the roof...just the top edges and areas mention earlier. The body has a few dings... nothing serious.....a couple of small ones on the tailgate and one of the passenger side front door ... again no big deal... I'm sure there are some other minor dings and such but nothing to get excited about. It's a 40 year old Wagon and I have learned to appreciate these Classic Wagons for what they have and not for what they don't have. This car has an awesome rock solid body... clean interior... nice original trim... great options.... runs, drives, stops and steers very well and it's got Cold Air Conditioning....Cool AMC Factory Road Wheels which are hard to find as they are not the more common slotted Factory Mags....the Wagon was used quite a bit over the last year without any issues. If you plan to bid on this cool 1975 Matador Brougham Wagon then please be sure that your satisfied with all of the information that I've provided and if your not sure then please don't bid. Your welcome to call me right up until the auction ends with any questions. It's a cool car guys... not new and not a show car but a rock solid Original High Option Matador Brougham Wagon that's wearing original Paint and can be enjoyed now. Like all 40 year old cars there are always things you can do to improve on the car but it's a cool Classic Wagon and it's rock solid .... I really like it just the way it is. Thanks again and please CALL TONY 215-499-2693 with Questions. GOOD LUCK! HIGH BID IS THE NEW OWNER / CARETAKER ...... THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF THE EMAILS, CALLS AND KIND WORDS!On Aug-14-14 at 10:02:41 PDT, seller added the following information: The Lights all work as they should from the Parking Lights, Taillights, Turn Signals, Brake Lights, Side Marker Lights & the Instrument Cluster Lights are nice and bright... all of the Heater/Air Conditioning Control Panel Lights work as do the Switch Lights.... Interior Dome Lights and the Under Dash Courtesy Lights work...AM-FM Stereo Radio works and the Green Stereo Light in the Radio Dial Lights up....Intermittent Windshield Wipers work...Tilt Wheel works, Horns work, Power Tailgate Window works from the Dash Switch, Dual Swing Tailgate opens and closes both out and down....Remote Drivers Mirror works fine... The Wagon has Power Front Disc Brakes and Power Steering. There are Optional Heavy Duty Sway Bars in the Front and Rear and there is a New Heavy Duty Radiator along with a Transmission Cooler. The Body on this Matador Brougham Wagon is really nice. It's rock solid with a nice clean Original undercarriage that shows original Paint and some areas of the original primer on the Floor Pans & Frame Rails... just rock solid. The body is straight overall although there are a couple of minor dents/dings but definitely nothing that's a big deal. The Paint is Original but as I've mentioned several times, it has some areas where the paint is thin/faded/worn...these areas are along the hood, upper edges of the fenders, doors and on the tailgate..... I think the fade looks kind of cool and I have seen cars restored where this look was duplicated and I have seen other Classic cars that have had clear coat painted over the faded thinned out areas to preserve the look. I think it looks pretty cool but it may not be for everyone. If your looking for a Classic Wagon to enjoy and drive then this might be exactly what your looking for and if you don't like the thinned out faded areas in the original paint then you can certainly consider painting the car in the future... it's a matter of personal taste but I think it looks very cool and have enjoyed the Wagon just the way it is. If your looking for a show car then you want to keep on looking but if you want a super solid Southern car with many cool options that runs and drives well then this might be the car for you. These old cars will always need something and if your an old car guy then you surely understand so just keep that in mind. All old cars will always need something done!!! I watched an ebay auction a few months back for a Green on Green Matador Wagon and although it wasn't a color combination that I would seek out, it was a cool car and I appreciated the cars overall condition. That car brought the better part of $8000 and was equipped with power steering and power drum brakes with an AM Radio ... that was about all and it sold quickly. The point being that although the paint on this Matador Brougham Wagon is tired, the car is still heavily optioned with a nice interior and is a great driver that's priced fair. I hope it goes to a good home. The engine is a 1970 360 2 Barrel engine with a Full Dual Exhaust system.....the Mufflers are Full Boar Performance Mufflers which are designed for a free flowing exhaust while still sounding like a Vintage Muscle car. Thanks again and please call Tony 215-499-2693 with questions. Please excuse all of the revisions to the description. My youngest daughter had her first child a couple of weeks ago and my very first Grandchild so things have been a little hectic to say the least. My granddaughter was born premature and has some health issues which seem to be coming along nicely but between all of the driving back and forth to the hospital and now the late nights since the baby's come home, well lets just say I'm a bit tired. I've tried my best to give a strong accurate description of the Matador Brougham Wagon and I think I've covered it fairly well but please feel free to call me with absolutely any questions or concerns. Thanks for your patience with the long description and again for all of your kind emails, phone calls and especially for your bids. ONE MORE THING.... THIS AUCTION ENDS LATE THURSDAY NIGHT/EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. IF YOUR ON THE EAST COAST AND LOOKING AT THIS AUCTION ON THURSDAY 8-14 THEN REMEMBER THAT THE AUCTION WILL END LATE THIS EVENING OR 3.00 AM EST FOR US EAST COAST GUYS. FOR YOU WEST COAST GUYS, WELL THE AUCTION WILL END AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT!!! EITHER WAY, GOOD LUCK BIDDING AND THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR VERY KIND EMAILS, CALLS AND BIDS.....Tony
