Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1931 Chevy 5 Window Coupe, Hot Rod with Extras Including "Total Car and Engine with Fenders" Pictured is a 1931 Hot Rod my husband built in Shop Class when he was 16 in 1954. He drove it for three years earning a variety of speeding tickets before he left for the Air Force. When he returned, he bought a Phillip’s 66 station, purchased his first T-Bird, parked the rod in his mother’s garage, and eventually moved it to our house where it has been sitting in the building since. It has not been driven for over 50 years….but when it was parked it was running. When he built it, he put in a Ford engine, and souped it up, but you will notice from the pictures that all the original parts, including the Chevy engine are there on the other front end. There are also two running boards with body panels that fit below the cab, 2 front fenders, 2 back fenders, and an extra fender that belongs with some older car. We have no idea which one. There is no odometer on either one. The rod has a battery, temperature, fuel, and oil gauge. He had a whole collection of cars he bought, customized, and then parked never to drive again. I guess the challenge was always in making them run. We have sold the others, but this was the most difficult to put on the market because it was his first and the one he loved the most. It needs some tender care, but I know it can run again, and all parts are there. You can ask me questions and I will try to find the answer to them with the resources I have available. It is being sold with the original title with no liens, etc. It is sold as “AS IS.” Keys are in the ignition and they turn. Please look at all the pictures carefully as they will provide you with the info you need. I know those of you who do restorations will recognize what will have to be done. It is a wonderful and unusual find. Cash only with a non-refundable Pay Pal deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours. You can make arrangements with me for picking up the car and paying the rest in cash. Overseas will need to follow Ebay's recommendation and use a specific wire account where the money is showed to have come through and then the car will be released.. US or overseas you are responsible for picking up the car and all the components as listed. If you are a first time bidder, please email me of your intent, otherwise I will remove your bid. Serious bidders only. Thank you and I appreciate your interest. NOTE: Hi. I have had two people down to check out questions. I do know it is a flat head V8 Ford with a dual carburetor and the other is a Chevy straight stick. We know the V8 is stuck. Since one of the men who came owns a car shop and wants to buy it said, "Just tell them it's a '31. It's worth redoing. It is going to take some work but you just can't find them. I know that's not a big help....but it's what it is and isn't. Thanks for asking. Mary
