Vehicle Detail
This was listed last week and didn't go. This is as LOW AS IT GOES! It will NOT relist. This is a 1988 Gold Wing. It's the 20 year anniversary model. It starts easily and runs fine, shifts nice, and is a ball to ride. It has 49,060 original miles. I put in a new battery two weeks ago. I bought it intending to fully restore it. I injured my elbow and now can't ride comfortably. As far as I know I am the 3rd owner, having bought it in 2011 with 47,818 miles. I have only put 1,242 miles on it due to my arm injury. The side car is a full size Champion brand. Serial #1500. It is the Escort side car model which sells new today for $6,495.00. It easily fits an adult. It has the original seat and carpet. The seat is solid and comfortable but, could use reupholstered. The side car windshield is solid but does have some spider webbing in the plastic. The side car comes with a rain cover which works fine, and has a full size trunk. The side car also has it's own disc brake which is hooked into the bikes braking system. There is also an electric adjustment to change the level of the side car. The side car also has wind fairings to allow more air on you, and has a screened in vent hole in the floor, with removable cover. It is 26 years old with original paint. The side car was painted to match the bike. Yes it has wear and tear. It is NOT show quality. It has a few small places where the fiberglass is cracked slightly. The paint is original as far as I know and is in decent shape. The seat has a few minor rips. It is as I bought it. It can use some new speakers in the rear, the fronts seem fine. The back tire seems to have a very slow leak. I know the water pump can use replaced. It does not overheat as is, unless you idle for 10 minutes or so, then it does start to get hot. It also gets gasoline around the filler neck when you ride. I have checked it out on GoldwingDocs.com and found out it's the fuel petcock just above the gas cap. The rebuild kit is under $20.00 and is a fairly quick do it yourself job. It does not affect how it runs but, does waste gas. Again with the bum arm I do not wish to fix this. At this price it is also not worth it to me. It has a C.B. I have never used it and don't have a mic for it. It has an after market reserve fuel tank in the right saddle bag. I have never used it and know nothing about it. It's a BIG bike. From front tire to rear trailer hitch it is 9 feet 4 inches. With the side car it measures a little over 7 feet wide. Nice cruising throttle grips, cruise control, Am,Fm, cassette. Cruising pegs. It's a very comfortable ride. Also have the original owners manual, the original Honda C.B. booklet, a Haynes Owners Workshop Manual, and a Honda Service & Repair Manual CD-Rom DVD.
