Vehicle Detail

1969 911T Sportomatic with engine and transmission out of car. Engine turns over and had valve job and rings done by previous owner some years ago. Has been in dry storage since. Numbers matching and includes all components to reassemble car. There were only 184 911T Sportomatics made for the US market, so this is a very rare car- particularly with many of these models converted to 5 speeds, by unwilling mechanics over the years. Hard to know how many are left. Previous owner represented that the car ran and drove well but had started to burn some oil- leading to the engine work. He never got around to re-installing engine(had a collection of several vehicles). While it is possible engine and transmission could be re-installed with operability, I cannot guarantee that the engine or transmission would not need work or overhaul- as I have no written documentation of work that was performed- just verbal. Everything seems intact and the engine does turn over freely. While there are those that do not highly regard the Sportomatic transmission, it is a very interesting example of early Porsche engineering matching a 4 speed manual transmission, torque converter, and servo actuated clutch. Then there are those that embrace the unique performance and lack of clutch pedal of this unusual car. There is no doubt that as the early 911's become more and more collectible, there will be increasing interest in the rarity and uniqueness of the Sportomatic models. Car is solid and could be made into decent daily driver or an excellent candidate for a full restoration. There is an rs style fiberglass front bumper installed. I have an original Porsche steel bumper as well as the "Sportomatic" emblem that will go with the car. Original paint code is 6806- Irish Green.
