Vehicle Detail

1977 Suzuki RM 125 AJeff Ward FMF Package RacerI received this bike disassembled in several boxes from a collector in So Cal who had informed me that this was the bike that came from Donnie Emler of FMF Roost Factory fame. During restoration of the bike, my DG / FMF / MX-Fox specialist restorer here in Phoenix noticed that inscribed on to underside of bottom fin were the words 'For Ward'. Can I PROVE that this was Jeff Ward's privateer FMF sponsored bike he raced in the late 1970's (prior to being signed by Kawasaki)? No, but it sure looks like it to me. I have tried to contact Ward via his facebook page to confirm this bike but so far he has been unresponsive. Any buyer should assume that I am wrong, and should value the bike and pay accordingly. If you don't believe the story then it's really very simple---do not bid. IN ALL MY YEARS OF BUYING AND SELLING VMX BIKES, I'VE NEVER SEEN ANOTHER ORIGINAL PACKAGE RACER LIKE THIS ONE. You are looking at a refreshed and 95% original bike. Original paint on aluminum tank, and fenders side panels number plates are all original with original vintage stickers still in place. Notice that tank was not repainted and all FMF factory advertising is still present, along with rider knee rubs in paint.Motor was completely rebuilt with all new piston, rings, seals, bearings, etc. Cylinder has had major porting work done presumably by Emler himself or possibly one of his cylinder 'builders' he had working for him at the time.Has original Preston Petty Tony D. front fender. Has original WIDE Sun rims gold anodized and they are all original with Yokohama wide rear tire still in place. Front tire was replaced with a new one. This is how Package Racers were set up back in the '70's.Ultra rare FMF coned up-pipe with ULTRA RARE and IRREPLACEABLE Moto-X Fox aluminum silencer. This silencer is in perfect shape, and in ALL MY YEARS of buying selling and collecting VMX bikes, this is the ONLY one of these that I've ever seen. I've never even heard of anyone else having one of these as well. Rare FMF aluminum porcupine head is original. FMF Pro-Fab aluminum swing arm is original and in excellent condition. All new seals and bearings installed in wheels when rebuilt. Has the Martek Moto-Tech CDI which was an FMF performance upgrade from the standard Suzuki CDI ignition system. All package racers had these and this one is original. Original Works Performance finned body shocks were completely rebuilt and restored with all new seal heads, bumpers, and oil. Notice the extremely rare triple rate springs. Original tall FMF RM seat is still very nice and impossible to find any more.Larger Mikuni with intake port work noticed. Opened up airbox for better air flow.Original Fork Skins are in excellent shape and these were standard on all Package Racers back then. Original opaque side panels and front JT number plate are the very early (clear) versions which cannot be duplicated now due to this type of plastic now being unobtanium. Original fenders and side panels as well. Original stickers everywhere---nothing new or reproduction were added here. Swingarm stickers as well---all original.Original 'Blackalloy' rear sprocket. Original Whirlpool side pull throttle.New Oury grips, painted frame & bars, new cables, new chain, etc. otherwise this bike has ALL it's ORIGINAL pieces. NOTE: Photos do not show a chain tensioner, but Original Pro-Tec chain tensioner with roller & mounting bolts is INCLUDED and it is in excellent condition. THIS IS A ONE OF A KIND BIKE AND SHOULD GO IN TO A TOP LEVEL VMX COLLECTION OR MUSEUM. ---SEE BELOW FOR FURTHER PURCHASE AND PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS--- Bike has been sitting for a while since resto and is ready for YOUR RACE PREP prior to riding or racing it.Please look at photos and ask questions (USE zoom FEATURE). This is your best way to determine it's condition so PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AND ASK QUESTIONS if unclear about anything.Az-Mike 623-465-0636. Feel free to call anytime.NO TITLE --- NO TITLE--- NO TITLE ---Sold on Bill of Sale only. I have supplied many detailed photos (with zoom feature) and these tell the story, so please look closely and ask questions if needed.SHIPPING: USA--I have an arrangement with a good, honest, reliable shipper using an 18 wheeler rig (enclosed) to get these bikes just about anywhere in the USA for anywhere between 200-500 bucks depending on where you live in relation to Phoenix, AZ. All shipping costs are the responsibility of buyer but I can help arrange shipping for you if needed. Pick up is preferred. SHIPPING: INTERNATIONAL--This bike does no have a title, so getting out of USA and into yours will be relatively DIFFICULT and EXPENSIVE. THEREFORE--If you have less than 5 feedbacks showing I will AUTOMATICALLY DELETE/CANCEL your bids unless you CALL ME FIRST to discuss. I'm really sorry to do this to all the honest and legitimate ebayers who are new, but it seems like are large percentage are flakes and simply ruin the auction for everyone. REMEMBER--If you REALLY WANT IT you must CALL ME to discuss first. Thanks for understanding--Az-Mike 623-465-0636 On Jul-13-14 at 10:21:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: It is a misconception shared by many that Jeff Ward was strictly a Kawasaki rider. It's easy to assume this as all of his actual championships won were aboard factory SR Kawie's. But here are the little known FACTS: Prior to his signing with Team Kawasaki in 1979, he was first signed by Team Yamaha and rode a works OW125 in late 1978. This was a very short contract with Yamaha, and Kawasaki picked him up almost immediately afterward. PRIOR TO ALL THIS----Jeff was signed by FMF to ride full blown 'works' style Suzuki RM125 B & C Package Racer's (like this one here) in 1977 & early 1978. Thanks for all the interest but please guys, get your facts straight first. Again, if you are not convinced that this was his actual bike then simply DO NOT BID. On Jul-17-14 at 07:44:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Just received a letter from the person I bought this bike from. See below. Thanks to everyone for all the interest in this bike. Please remember, regardless of whether or not this was Ward's actual bike, it is a true vintage FMF Package Racer and not a replica. Please bid & buy accordingly.
