Vehicle Detail

Up for bids is this 1967 Chevelle Malibu. This is a true barn find and has been waiting to see the streets for over 20 years. The car started out with a gold exterior and gold interior...now blue with a black interior. This car is pretty clean and retains all it's original body panels except for the SS hood that was added. The engine is a 1974 350 according to the numbers on it and the transmission is a Muncie (I am told by my GM friends that can tell by 7 bolts holding on the side cover). The rear end is a 3.73 12 bolt posi which works by the way :). I found a cam card in the glove box (488 lift 292 duration) and the motor definitely sounds "cammed" up. The car has 4 wheel drum brakes and power steering. It has the correct, original buckets and floor shift column in it also. As you can see in the pics, this was obviously a western car. The interior will need recovered, but it does have pretty nice carpeting in it. Even the emblems are still on the seats, something you see missing on most restos. There is no headliner in the car, but the bows are there for it. The car has a nice "20 foot" paint job and the car is actually very straight. I could only find evidence of one paint job (the blue on the car now) over the original paint. This car has a very nice cowl and is nice around the windows. The trunk floor is pretty nice. I could only find some minor pin holes in it. There are some pinholes in the floor pans and a small area of rust under the gas pedal area. There was some minor repair work behind the rear wheels, but the trunk extensions look super (see pics), so I don't think it is anything to serious. I'm sure every panel has some body work in it, because I don't see any Malibu trim anywhere. There is a little bit of rust on the bottom of the hood by the latch area. If you are 40-60 years old, you probably drove a car just like this in high school. Recapture a little bit of your youth with this time machine. I have only driven it around my yard and once up and down the street (no insurance or plates). It has been sitting a long time and any little thing could go wrong (leaky radiator, wheel cylinder, etc...) This is the way they were. The buyer assumes all delivery expenses. I am only a couple miles from the ohio turnpike and 2 other major freeways. I have a truck and trailer and could meet your driver to aid you. I encourage you to come check it out in person..it's a great car. Feel free to ask questions. One last thing, I require a deposit of $150.00 within 24 hours of auction end. THXOn Jul-02-14 at 07:48:38 PDT, seller added the following information: I had some questions about the car. First, yes, it's a real deal barn find. The plates on the car right now expired 20 years ago. I would have taken some pics removing it from it's resting place, but there was too much chaos going on at the time. I didn't do much except wash it. A serious detail job would probably do wonders for it. The car shows very well though. It would probably grab more attention at a show or cruise than a totally restored car. The exhaust system is simply headers and glass packs (hey this was built in the late 70s/early 80s). I do have a clear ohio title in my name. Due to insurance reasons, when the car leaves, it will have the new owners name on it. I will not send an "open" title out. Also, I forgot to mention that I have spare parts that go with the car. I have a nice driver side front fender to replace the damaged one. I also have an "SS" grill, with headlight bezels, and a fender surround or 2 that goes with it as well. The carb has given me some issues and I may mess with it or replace it with the holley that was on it when I brought it home. The clutch feels decent in the car. I wanted to show the blisters above the driver side wheel lip and note there is a small hole at the front of the passenger side door. The bottoms of the doors are very nice (took pics to show the seams). The winner will have about 14 days to pick his car up. At the moment, it looks like work will make me unavailable the first Friday and Saturday after the auction. Finally, I prefer cash, but if you choose to pay with cashier's check, you will have to wait 5-10 business days for it to clear my bankOn Jul-05-14 at 10:49:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I wanted to address a few more questions about the car. (1) Yes, the car has a VIN tag on the door jam and it matches the clear ohio title that is in my name. (2) Yes, the frame is in very nice condition. These cars were known for being rusty around the body mounts and control arm areas. This car is very nice and I posted the pics to prove it so there is no "hoping" or "guessing" on your part. It is clean. (3) Yes it runs and drives. The motor has 35-40 pounds of oil pressure at idle, and increases with RPM. I just don't have current plates or insurance on it. (4) Yes, I pulled on the headlights and they work (even the old school amber high beams). Also, the windshield wipers turn off and on. (5) The car has a hurst shifter in it. I hope that answers it. If not, message me for my number and you can ask me any questions you want about it. The reserve is super low for a car with all the upgraded components on it. 4 speed changeovers, buckets, and posi 12 bolts can be pricey to add to your car, let alone labor intensive. This car already has it all.
