Rare Frazer Manhattan Ready for Restoration VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: VEHICLE HISTORY: The current owner purchased this rare 1951 Frazer Manhattan in 1977 (37 years ago). Intent on doing a full restoration he spent a number of years starting the restoration and buying up parts where ever he could find them, including Kaiser Frazer dealers going out of business. In 2005 he lost his storage/workshop and brought the partially restored car to our facility for temporary storage. It has been stored in our warehouse ever since. Due to health issues the owner is not going to be able to finish his restoration, so it is time to sell. Time to let another enthusiast finish the restoration of this rare classic! When he purchased it in 1977 the title read 46,000 miles. It currently has 47,186. A notebook in the car states the engine was rebuilt at 42,631. It does start and drive and stop, although we have not driven it on the road. MARQUE HISTORY: The Frazer was the flagship line of upper-medium priced American luxury automobiles built by the Kaiser-Frazer corporation. In 1951, Frazer debuted a new design. The design updates were courtesy of the legendary designer Howard “Dutch” Darrin and the cars were longer, lower and swoopier. The top of the line Manhattan was available as either a 4-door sedan or 4-door convertible. The sedan resembled a convertible with the top up as it had minor creases at the B- and C-pillars, meant to evoke convertible top bows. 1951 was the last year of production for the Frazer nameplate. Only 10,000 total were manufactured and only 132 Manhattan Hardtop Sedans were produced. The base price for the Manhattan Hardtop was $3,070. Trunk X X Trim panels appear to be redone in a brown fuzzy material. Prop rod springs do not hold lid open. Radio X Missing knobs and not working.
