Vehicle Detail

1997 Isuzu Trooper LS - Original Owner Looks great, runs good. 4WD, I'm the original owner and purchased the car in 1997. After having not driven the car for a long time, the Trooper was recently experiencing an intermittent slipping transmission issue which probably should be addressed. It was slipping, but is not currently. I've driven the car 15 miles over the last few days at speeds up to 65 mph with no slipping. Vehicle looks great and has never been in an accident. BodyBody is in good shape. Original creamy white paint. Still has some sheen. SUV has never been in an accident. I dinged the back corner several years ago with another vehicle (photo). • Trooper has original running boards which were installed by the dealer at the time of purchase. Engine• Trooper was my everyday vehicle until purchasing a new Chevy Tahoe in 2008. Since then it has mostly sat in the driveway. Last month, to prepare to sell it, I drained old gas, then towed it to a mechanic to install a new battery, starter, alternator and fuel filter. Also had the oil and filter changed. • Intermittent transmission issue is the biggest concern. Should be addressed, although the transmission is not currently slipping. Drove the car to a local transmission shop two weeks ago and said he felt the transmission needs to be rebuilt, but ever since then the transmission has steadily improved and the transmission is currently not slipping. • Engine seems like it idles a bit louder than it should. I've hardly driven the car since 2008. • AC blows, but not cold. Local mechanic shop said it did not need freon, but I did not want to pay additional labor charges to diagnose further. • Power windows and door locks and side mirrors all work. • Factory Isuzu AM/FM/Cassette Radio works. Rear Factory Isuzu 10 CD Changer unit does not. InteriorGreat shape. Gray velour seats in front and back are in excellent condition. Felt cloth on passenger door is hanging a little (photo). Black and gray vinyl console is in good shape. The vinyl in the way back storage is scratched up a bit from hauling stuff back in the day. However, I always used the heavy factory rubber mat (included), so the carpet back there is in good shape. All of the seats operate well (manual). Headliner and visors are excellent. Tires4 Michelin LTX P245/70/R16, plus same Michelin spare. They all have tread, but car has been sitting in driveway for a few years and you may want to replace them. Books and PaperworkI have the title and original owners manual in its case. Somewhere, I have the original 1997 sales receipt and paperwork from when I purchased the vehicle too and I will look for it. I purchased it brand new from Courtesy Isuzu in Tampa, FL and the vehicle has always been in Tampa. Picking Up VehicleThe vehicle can be seen and picked up in Tampa, FL 33609. Please contact me with any questions at all! Thank you and Good Luck! On Jun-27-14 at 07:48:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: Just drove the Trooper around this morning on errands and through a car wash (about a total of 4 miles). Transmission slipped twice during the errands and had to downshift to engage gears. Was fine after that.On Jun-28-14 at 03:28:42 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been several good questions, but for some reason they're not posting to the listing so we'll try here: Question #1 0 0 0 Hi, I am an ex-owner of a 1988 Trooper, and I want to get another one. I know you have addressed the tranny issue, but would like your opinion. I would like to know, if vehicle would drive safely and properly, if I where to drive it to South Florida. 0 0 0 Answer #1That's a great question. People love their old Troopers don't they? With the occasional issue on the automatic transmission, I'm very comfortable driving the car around Tampa because if anything were to develop that made it undriveable, I wouldn't be in the middle of nowhere. But I wouldn't recommend taking it onto the turnpike across Florida until I was more confident. If it were me, I'd suggest a transport service to another city rather than a long interstate/highway trip until you're more familiar with the car. According to autologdotnet, Tampa to Miami door-to-door delivery is $300. I appreciate the question - thanks. Question #2I can see the seats fold down but do they fold behind the driver and passenger leaving room to sleep in the back if you wanted to? Answer #2Hi - yes they fold down, and then they fold up and lay up against the front seats. But from the inside of the rear doors to the back of the folded up seats, it measures about 5 feet. Perhaps you could sleep diagonally. :) I'll try to substitute out one of the photos today so you can see that better. On Jun-29-14 at 12:30:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Question #3Hi, have you driven the car more recently, after 06/27? I want to know if tranny is still slipping. Also, if wining bidder is not local, will you be present to give auto carrier the keys, etc., make sure everything with vehicle transport is o.k. on your end? Thank you! Answer #3Hello, I just took it for a drive (6/29/14) 2 miles and at 70mph with no slipping. That said, yesterday we shot a video of the Trooper cruising great down the road (about 8 miles), but it temporarily slipped twice at about 25-30 mph on side streets before quickly engaging. Yes, I'll be here and available for transport pick-up. I have 2 keys and the factory original alarm FOB. Thanks! Not sure if Ebay will allow a link to the YouTube video of the car driving yesterday, but here's the link (you may have to copy and paste into your browser): 1997 Trooper LS Test Drive on Youtube 6-29-14! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKVcNsOCzss On Jun-29-14 at 14:36:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Watch YouTube Video: 6/28/14 Test Drive We drove the Trooper about 8 miles yesterday and may a brief video of it cruising down the street about 45-50 mph. It did slip twice on side streets about 25-30 mph and then engaged. Today, I went 70 mph on a 2 mile test drive with no slipping.
