Vehicle Detail
Where were you in 72 ???? Here is a time warp straight back to that year. Up for consideration is an ultra clean, near museum quality, 1972 Honda C70 Super Cub in un-restored, unmolested, & UNBELIEVABLE condition with only 667 origional miles on the clock! CT 70's are a dime a dozen (my first bike), but not so with vintage Super Cubs. These were the Cadillac of scooters! It is 99.9% original. This bike came from California & was in dry storage for most of its life. It is in the most desirable color “Poppy Yellow Metallic”. And let me tell you folks, the color is absolutely poppin' on this bike. Only one can speculate as to why this bike was ridden so little. Ok, on to the good stuff. As was stated before, this bike is in excellent + + shape, but being 42 years old it is not in brand new condition (but dang near close to it). The paint shines like it was laid on yesterday. If you look carefully at pic # 21 the paint is so shinny that you can see the reflection of the heel/toe shifter on the side cover. All of the chrome is in excellent condition as can be noted in the pictures. All of the rubber grips & foot pegs look brand new. And look at those Kool emblem badges, they jump right out at you. All of the information stickers are in new condition. The seat is nice & firm, without any tears. The bike even has the tool kit; I think I was the first person to break it open! This bike is 99.9% original. The tank was removed, cleaned & scrubbed, & a small magnet was placed in the bottom near the hose outlet. The carburetor was like wise removed & cleaned. Two small fuel filters were placed inline with both hoses. It is running non-ethanol gas with Stabil. The bike runs very well. All buttons, horn, & lights work, except the headlight. It is stock & I wanted to leave it on the bike. What probably happened (which happens on these bikes) is someone ran it without a battery in it & it blew out the bulb. This is what is not stock on the bike: The battery, two fuel lines (I have the originals), two inline fuel filters, two o rings in the carburetor, & one nut, bolt & washer that holds on the valance panel (that was my fault). All of the jets & needles on the carburetor are the original ones. As far as accessories, this bike was miles ahead of its time. Back in 1972 this bike had electric start, blinking turn signals, & a factory tool kit. Uh, let's see, original key, check, original tires, check, original tool kit, check. Folks, you get what I'm saying here? The bike was last titled in 1990, sold in 1992, & has been put up since. The bike has a few MINOR cosmetic flaws that the average person would not hardly notice, but I am pointing them out to you so there are no disappointments, so here they go. - The front fender: as expected there are a few paint chips up front, you have to look very closely, for they are so small. Also, on the right side there is a very small rub mark where the cables are touching the fender. You may not even see these in the pictures (see pics 5 & 16). - The left front fork. Again this is the front of the bike, so it is to be expected. There is a very light vertical scuff on the edge of the fork (see pic 17). The most damming defect is a small spot on the bottom of the right fork where the paint has come off. It is the size of about ½ a dime (see pic 23). - Some of the aluminum could use a little polish like on the wheel hubs, or the points cover. It is still in excellent shape & shows nicely. See pic (18). Again, you probably would not notice this because I am being super picky here. I do not want any disappointments, only a delightful buyer. But overall this bike is very ch, ch, ch, Cherry with a capital C! I could have removed parts & painted, them over or what not, but then it would not be a survivor. And we all know that survivors are boss! A person could easily sit down with a 12 pack of beer, throw on a copy of Europe 72', (which would be appropriate considering the year of the bike & that it came from Cali.) & have it deck out to the tens, cause it's already to the nines!!! If one would like to touch the paint up here is a company the has the paint: Link for touch up paint. It is an EXACT color match: http://www.vmrpaints.com/honda-ct.html NOTE , NOTE , NOTE: The last Super Cub in this year & color had twice as many miles & a pile of aftermarket parts, no title or documentation, & patch welds on the muffler sold for $1525.00. Although not a bad looking bike, it was total junk from a collectors viewpoint compared to this fine scooter being offered here to you. Visit the link below, read the listing & then you will realize that what is being offered here is exceptional. (see listing here) http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Honda-C70MK1-Super-Cub-Vintage-Motorcycle-/231041035001?nma=true&si=8%252BAyq%252FvUScwf8Lk4th555b9kZ94%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Folks, bikes like this do not come up that often, so bid away. It has a reserve that is reasonable for this make, model, & condition. Don't ask, just bid what you can. NOTE: I DO NOT HAVE A “BUY IT NOW” PRICE ON IT. HOWEVER, IF ONE FEELS THAT HE HAS TO HAVE THE BIKE (LIKE WE ALL DO) YOU CAN EMAIL ME WITH AN OFFER. AGAIN, YOU CAN EMAIL ME WITH A BUY IT NOW OFFER. Dig deep & pony up. If you wait too long you could wind up backing up to the ass kicking machine for letting this one slip by. I have been there myself. Don't let it happen to you. Trades??? not really interested, except maybe an 04' up Sportster. A $500.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of close of auction, & the balance paid (IN CASH) when the bike is picked up. I work in Atlanta, GA, so if the winning bidder wants it shipped at his expense I can bring it to the ATL area. There are a lot of shipping companies here & some specialize in motorcycle transport.Questions??? Call Me. Michael – (four zero four) two nine one – four four three six.
