I bought this bike in Austin, TX and disassembled and restored it over an eight month period. The speedometer works with 23,328 actual miles on bike and 429 total miles since restoration. The mileage may change, as I drive it about once a month to keep everything in working order. Bike runs, handles great, shifts smooth in all gears and stops as a GL1000 should. However, the license and inspection are out of date as I never drive bike on a regular basis. The engine internals were super clean with great compression on all cylinders. You can see the original engine cleanliness by viewing the pictures of the removed front water pump cover and valve cover. I also polished a lot of aluminum…valve covers, timing belts cover, lower fork legs, carb tops and intake runners. There are zero fluid leaks and you can safely park this bike in your living room! I posted a lot of close up pictures, so please take a look at all of them. Will assist if you need to hire a shipper to pick up bike or just get a $30 motorcycle trailer from UHaul if you live nearby. Details: I found an original stock seat and it looks brand new. New Bridgestone Spitfire 11F and 11R Tires…429 miles. Complete rebuild of all 4 carbs with Randakk kits New brake lines (front and rear) Rebuilt front brake calipers, front Master Cylinder and new pads Rebuilt rear caliper, rear Master Cylinder and new pads Complete rebuild of front forks (polished) with new SuperBrace, seals and fluid Correct rear shocks, disassembled and polished New Honda water pump with all new front engine seals/gaskets New Neutral safety switch; no leaks. New tapered steering bearings, new wheel bearings front and rear All new plugs and NGK resistor caps, new points and timing set to spec. New Gates timing belts, new fuel, oil and air filters and all new fluids New thermostat, new solid state 7 volt regulator Shaft drive inspected, cleaned and lubed New grease and seal in rear differential Gas tank is in great shape with no rust. The shelter assembly has all the correct pins, very clean underneath and OEM. Many new bolts and other small parts were also replaced with Honda OEM and have other small parts that will go with the bike. Non Original Parts and Other Info: Two rear view mirrors are not original Two upper radiator hose clamps are not original. The right rear foot peg is missing the top cover. The top and side shelter assemblies have a few scratches but did not try to fix them. I know that I am NOT a painter! Tachometer works, but is slow going up and down; a lot of GL1000’s have this issue but can be fixed. The exhaust headers chrome heat shields are not on the bike; think I have them but in poor shape.
