Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Hi, What We Have For Sale Today Is One Of The Rarest Firebirds On The Planet! This car was parked since 1982, one owner car. I was the lucky one to find it and know just how rare this car actually is. If you’re going to restore a hot rod, why would you go through all that time and effort to build a clone of this car. Answer is simple, we all thought these cars were already restored selling for crazy money or in the crusher. How great is it to work with an all original body not being held together by rust and bondo, those cars 30 plus years ago are in worse shape. This was the monster one to own back in the day and now you’ll never see an original unrestored one to call your own. Most of these big block 400 cars restored don’t even have the matching numbers drive train. We blow them up and pitch them out. It has been sitting in a barn most of its life. The original owner never wanted to part with it but the family inherited it and sold it off. From what I was told the owner had problems with the engine in the 80’s and took the motor and trans out and replaced it with another until he could afford to fix the original engine. Parked the car in 82 that’s why the miles are so low. I have the original 400ho big block motor numbers matching to the last 6 digits of vin on the car along with the turbo 400 trans and drive train. I took the motor completely apart and found it had ate a lifter or two might have blown head gasket? I had it to a local machine shop and it needs to be bored out and heads reworked along with a standard rebuild to bring the beast big block motor back to life. We already put front floor pans in it originals they were a little soft from moisture in carpet. Back deck assy. Repaired the passenger quarter, small rust with new metal see pics. You can see from the pics of the quarter, inner metal is in excellent shape. All of the original inner quarters are in great shape (was undercoated also). Working my way around the car the driver’s side hasn’t been touched much and very little rust there also. Would make an easy project for someone looking to restore a piece of American muscle history or for investment. This car is not all bondo up like most of them you see today. What you see from my pics is the present state of the car. I have stored all of the original interior, glass with the bird logos. Front and rear bumper assy,, all the original emblems etc. Just picture the car parked since 1982 and most of the repairs needed are because of the fact it was in a barn and on the road for a short time. If it was outside for all those years, it would have been rusted down to nothing. Which if you found a number matching 400 with all original parts, I am sure you would just buy all new sheet metal anyways. I have a complete new driver’s quarter so you can make whatever repairs needed. All of the lower rockers are solid, has small amount of rust around the trunk area. Doesn’t have much more metal work left to do and few new pieces of sheet metal before its ready for paint. I am sure your wondering why would someone sell this car when good chances are you’ll never find another one. In my case it is time and storage to finish it. I own a restoration shop and have years of work scheduled ahead of me and finding out I can’t work 20 hours a day to get my projects done. We build one at a time and have a small family crew doing it. We’re all about quality and to do it right takes time. I will be taking offers on it so the auction can end at anytime. If you have any questions before bidding, I will be happy to answer them in a timely manner. Please serious bidders and question only. Good luck and here is your chance to own a piece of true American muscle history. Thanks On Jun-14-14 at 08:27:37 PDT, seller added the following information: If you have any questions about the block number and head casting number before you bid please contact us. We have verified it is a YT block making this a true 400 numbers matching car. Please do not assume this is any more then that. Machine shop were the motor is presently at was calling it a high output 400. Ebay will not let me make any changes to the ad unless it gets re listed as they are having tech problems with pics and bidding activity right now. We might have to re list to add the block numbers and pics of it. Sorry for the confusion.... Thanks Scott On Jun-14-14 at 10:27:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Also wanted to note that we have removed the reserve auction from this listing. The next bid will drop the reserve and highest bidder at the end of the auction will win the car. Please be clear of this before you bid.. Thanks Scott On Jun-17-14 at 16:44:02 PDT, seller added the following information: The lower rockers under the doors are in excellent all original condition... (very little pitting were the lower trim was removed.. easy fix ..) On Jun-17-14 at 16:49:44 PDT, seller added the following information: Still has original set of keys in the ignition.
