Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 Up for auction is a 1978 BMW R80/7. So many parts have been replaced or rebuilt, it's hard to know where to start. I picked up the bike from a guy that was in the middle of a restoration and he lost interest. He did so much to the bike, but stopped short of putting it back together. The bike was striped down to the frame. Frame was painted and all the aluminum was cleaned Wheels are laced with stainless spokes Aluminum Rims polished Metlezer Tires, with about 500 miles on them Wheel bearings replaced Steering bearings replaced Caliper rebuilt Master cylinder rebuilt Carburetors rebuilt and synchronized Throttle cables replaced Polished Stainless Bolts and Nuts everywhere Tank badges new Fork gaiters new Fork brace old Front brake pads new Rear turn signal stalks shortened (Original sticks out too far). I was going to do the same for the front, but those stalks (new) were too expensive to cut, new owner can do it. All lights work Battery, I think, is about a year old (kept on battery tender) Handle bars are Flanders, R90s reproductions Shocks new Points replaced Air Filter replaced Fluids and oil filter replaced, including the rear and trans oil. All the lights work, bike runs well. Seat pan is in great shape, no rust and still has the registration holder. Has tool box, under the seat, no tools. The Bad, Paint is original, has crazing, faded in places and chips here and there. I couldn't bring myself to repaint the tank, side covers and fenders, they looked way too cool. They were wet sanded and buffed. So the paint is from 1978, but looks good to me, it has a nice patina and shines. Seat is original, has a little rip at the bottom, where it wraps around, not really noticeable. Missing the chrome grab rail Exhaust is original, I never got around to replacing it, because it looked alright to me and functions. Speed odometer lens looks a little cloudy, I never noticed it .....before now. Please look at pictures and make a decision how much you want to pay and bid, or better yet contact me and come out and look for yourself. I'm being as honest as I can remember about the bike and may have forgotten some things, so ask questions. The auction winner is expected to pay a deposit within 2 days (48 Hours) of auctions end, and the rest, pay in person. The bike needs to be picked up within 7 days, unless we make arrangements otherwise. I will not ship or crate, but I am willing to help with the arrangements of the auction winner. On May-15-14 at 07:39:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Please bidders, unless you are local and plan to pay when you pick up, only people with positive feedback of at least 15 need to bid.
