For sale is a 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit Convertible with 148K miles. This car needs work. It was sitting in a barn for many years and does still have a little of the barn smell. The windshield is cracked and there is rust in the gas tank from sitting. The tank will absolutely need to be cleaned out before you can drive it anwhere. It needs a battery and I'm sure the rubber items (such as the tires, belts and hoses) are old and should be replaced. Body and frame, are pretty decent for the age. The top is useable, has one hole big enough that should be patched. The worst part is that the shifter has just started acting up and now it isnt going into reverse. I believe the trans is fine , its just the linkage. Fell free to email me with any questions. Thanks. On May-14-14 at 05:12:13 PDT, seller added the following information: I talked to my friend whom I went in on the car with, he concurred that the transmission is fine, and that it just needs a new shift kit up front, which is inexpensive. It also has a new fuel pump, but as I have already indicated the fuel system has a lot of rust in it and the fuel line gets plugged easily. The car handles well and the suspension feels very solid. It does look like the padding from the top is starting to come out.
