For your consideration: a 1965 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. A GM V8 350 (professionally installed) has replaced the factory in-line six. The transmission is a GM SM420 (a nearly indestructible manual four speed with extreme capabilities) and the original Toyota transfer case remains. There is A Holley four barrel mounted on A GM intake. It was related by the previous owner that there has been about 40 thousand miles since the engine swap. In addition the brakes have been upgraded with power assist (drum brakes) and power steering has been added. The paint is original on the exterior having minor blemishes and areas where touch-up paint has been applied. This is a California vehicle, so it is without most of the common rust issues found on these type of vehicles; This model year offers the heaviest gauge body sheet metal, in the fj40 series. It is reliable & performs excellent off-road. Please refer to the photos as well as a Youtube link here: youtube.com/watch?v=tZZxkgj0Pvs. This vehicle is being sold with the white spoke rims and tires seen in the photos with the top on, as opposed to the factory steel rims with the BFG Mud terrains, as seen with the top off. There is no stereo system or spare tire. The tires are older and show their age; I would recommend replacement. This fj40 has never let me down! Reliable as the day is long; from the foothills of Northern California. I took the top off as soon as I got it and never waxed it, like I did the body, so you may interpret the top and body as having different colors-not the case- the top has oxidized paint. Originally purchased from Stancil's Garage, (Placerville CA.) which later became Stancil's Toyota. It seems I am always on the hunt for these older FJ40's...I am selling this because I recently purchased a clean original '68. If it was up to me I would keep both, but the community where I live has regulations about having too many cars on or about the property; so here it is on ebay...Bid to win, as there is no reserve on this fine example of an early model FJ40. I must admit,...up until owning and driving this vehicle, I was a bit of an "FJ40 purist"-but I have to tell you, when comparing this V-8 equipped Land Cruiser to the factory straight six...well let's just say it really enhances the driving experience. From the first test drive and every time I have driven it since, I can't help but smile when I hear the eight cylinders fire-up and bring to life this legendary vehicle. Admittedly these were not made to drive fast, but it is sure nice to get up to cruising speed, likety-split. It even performs better off-road. I had a Warn 8274 mounted on the bumper and with the BFG Mud Terrains I felt that I was pretty much unstoppable in this thing. I regret having to put the old wheels and tires on, removing the winch & putting it up for sale, but it is time "he" goes to a new home. Yes this FJ40 is a he & comes with a name, which is "Harold" named in memory of the first owner. This vehicle is being sold "as-is & where is"; no warranties expressed or implied. Record of wire tranfer is required within 72 hours. Cleared payment must be received within one week of close. If payment has not been received within this time frame, the vehicle will be offered to other interested parties and the deposit will be retained by me. I will store the vehicle 7 days after cleared payment, unless other arrangements have been made with me. Any agreement between seller and buyer may supersede this clause. Vehicle will be released only after funds have cleared.
