Vehicle Detail
It’s a 1999 BMW 328is with a five speed manual! This is an E36 – they held the is coupe over for one year. It’s a delightful car – fun to drive, good MPG, good power and handling, yet a decent ride. Best of all, this one is completely original and unmodified. It has 144,972 miles. It is silver with black leather interior, heated and power seats, dual zone climate control, factory HK radio with CD changer, cruise, tilt and telescope wheel, auto down/up windows, and a power sunroof. It has a trip computer to play with – it shows MPG, average speed, calculates trip times, and outside temperature. It has front and side airbags. It has the 2.8 liter dual overhead cam motor. It does not have the M motor, so no VANOS to go bad. It’s rated at 190 hp and 207 torque. The five speed manual works flawlessly, and I have receipts from a clutch kit installed around 90,000 miles. It averages 28 mpg on my commute. This car is built to perform. It has traction control, ABS, and limited slip. It has functional brake cooling ducts, and the factory M Sport package. This included 16x8 wheels, 225x50x16 tires, factory lower suspension, and M badges around the car. What’s wrong with it – the check engine light is on. The computer reads the engine codes 1421 and 1423. This is generated by the secondary air system. My independent mechanic says it’s a common problem with this car – the air pump for emissions is not pumping enough air on cold startup to keep the computer happy. Also, the airbag light is on. Again, a common problem on BMW ten years old or more. There are a two golf ball size dents. One in the left front fender, one by the passenger door in the rear quarter panel. There are a few dings as well. The body is straight and rust free. There’s a receipt that came with the car for a replaced rear bumper cover. I assume it was a parking lot scrape, as the car shows no damage or crash history. The passenger side fog lamp is cracked. This car has a lot of life to give. I greatly regret its sale. This is part two of my wife’s plan to eliminate all manual transmissions from the earth, or at least the small portion of the earth she controls. And we’ve established who is in control, thank you very much. Contact me for a test drive. $500 paypal deposit to hold the car, balance cash or cashier's check only. Pickup preferred, contact me if you want to ship the car.
