Vehicle Detail
I am selling this bike only because I need money to finance a start up business. It is a 1981 Honda CB750 that previously belonged to my brother in law. I bought it from him, and then found a CB1000 engine on the internet. The 1981 bike had 32,000 miles on it (approximate). The main contribution was the frame from that bike, and the lower engine cases and transmission. The 1983 CB1000 engine had 19,000 miles on it (approximate). The main contribution from that bike was the crank, cylinders, and head. I took all of the other parts from a 1982 CB750 that had 7,000 miles on it (the bits are in good shape). The bike now has a bit under 13,000 miles (I've got a few miles on this bike and it's running great). Other miscellaneous things that were updated: -Hotter coils (stock ignition otherwise). -Flatslide carbs (Mikuni 36mm pumper carbs) You can go half throttle to 5,500 rpms and then you can use the full throttle. -4 into 1 exhaust (not an obnoxiously loud exhaust, but not quiet either). -New tires about 3,500 miles ago. -Oil cooler from the CB1000 -Brand new battery This bike is not a garage queen, and I use it for my daily driver. I had it on a three day road trip through Duluth, northern Wisconsin, the UP, Michigan, and back through Wisconsin a few years ago and it did great (thousand to fifteen hundred mile trip). I just put a new battery in it out of the box after sitting through the winter and it started right up. It does not drip or leak anything substantial (I occasionally see a drip of this or that under it, but haven't bothered to look for the source). Under that gas cap the paint peeled, this started and stopped right after it got built (I think its from gas sloshing up on the seal while riding). It is not getting bigger. There is one chip in the paint on the bottom of the tank by the petcock. The sidecovers have a small chip or two around the mounting brackets. These are minor things. Brakes work good, front brake is soft in comparison to new bike brakes. Maybe they could be improved with stainless lines or other upgrades. The engine got all new seals when it was apart. This bike is a big, fast one. It is not for a beginner, or someone shorter than 5'6" tall in my opinion (it is America, and I expect that you will do what you think is right - so if you show up at 5'5" high saying you never road a bike before, I'll probably note that I said this in the listing and then take your check when you take the bike, if that's what you want). Pickup is at my house. You can drive it home, or I can drive it within 50 miles of the cities if you ask first. I don't like to package bikes for shipping, as it takes me a day of building a custom frame and I feel it is not worth it (as I said before, it is America so if you want it shipped just have someone else pick it up and package it). Bring cash when you pick it up. I will take a check but it needs to clear before the bike leaves my place. Paypal charges a premium, we can do that if you pay the premium. I really like this bike, and hope that you will like it too.
