For sale is my 1970 Mk1 Escort 1600GT. Titled & registered as a historic vehicle in Maryland. Clear title in my name and can be registered for road use in any state. The Escort is originally a Left hand drive car, built by Ford for the European market and first registered in Macedonia on 12/30/1970.I have original papers from Macedonia and the original owners manual translated into their language also. Engine & trans: Original 1600cc Kent Crossflow 4 cyl, with 4 branch manifold, K&N filter, newer alternator & battery. Mated to standard 4 speed gearbox with recently replaced clutch & selector arm. Chassis: Front disc brakes, rear factory leaf springs with lowering blocks & drum brakes on the rear. Koln short type rear axle (bigger & stronger than the typical "English" type axle). Open differential. 7J x13" Two Gates wheels with 185/60 tires.. Rear tires are brand new. Interior: Black fishnet Recaro RS seats, Original dash with 6 dial instrument cluster, functioning switches, heater, radio cassette, wipers etc.. (Even has the original floor mounted washer pump switch & dipped beam light switch. Original nice black carpet & rear seat bench (black cloth). Body: RUST FREE SHELL, No sunroof, all steel panels, Cibie Oscar spot lamps with covers, red painted backs. Some dings & blemishes and was repainted by a previous owner in the original red, however sanding swirl marks are visible through the paint close up. There is some damage repair evident behind the front right bumper mounting point. The floors have been replaced with new patterned sheet metal and re-seal coated to a good standard. The driver & passenger window glass have scratch streaks from dry rubber seals, as these and all other rubber seals appear to be original too. Having spent most of its life in a warmer, dryer climate than that of the UK, the chassis is rust free, however there are small spots of surface rust beginning around the edge of the hood. (see closeup pics). Note: the British license plate on the hood is just a sticker & can be removed. It has been driven well and is by no means a show car, but a good example of an all time classic. List of modified parts currently installed: - The engine is fitted with a twin choke Weber carb, Big wing oil pan (sump), Rally tubular exhaust manifold.- Twin cam thicker front sway bar, double width & Anti-Dive kits.- Adjustible damping front shocks, Bilstein rear shocks.- Newer short ratio steering rack. - Control arms, sway bar bushings & starter motor newer.The car runs and drives fine and all fluids are topped off with a fresh oil change.
