Vehicle Detail

You won’t be disappointed with this meticulously cared for 1983 280ZX, automatic, 2+2. This is a great classic car and is the last year of Datsun/Nissan’s production of the 280ZX model. Her code name, "Grey Goose". I am the 3rd owner with 424,000 miles on the chassis, but you'd never know it looking at this baby! Two years ago, I stripped the interior to metal and installed Fat Mat on all metal surfaces to reduce road noise and ambient temperatures. New carpet was installed throughout with new floor mats. It has the original dashboard and it is not cracked. The prior owners had a dash mat on the dash and I left it there. See the picture album where I pulled off the dash mat so you can see the excellent condition of the dash (imagine the Velcro is not there!) It has an upgraded Hi-Def Radio with iPod input/control, as new speakers. As you will see in the pictures, the interior is easily a 9/10 out of 10. The exterior is in amazing shape for a vehicle that has traveled over 400,000 miles. I bought this car from the family of the second owner, a race car driver who lived in southern California. This Z was his pride and joy and he often drove it for trips to northern California. In the 3+ years I've had it, I've driven this car throughout the state of Florida for car events and car shows. It has never left me stranded or disappointed. It always cranks on the first try and is a true blast to drive! This car is being sold with all the receipts going back to the very first owner. In addition, I am including the car cover and front bra. Bads: Not much. There is a small amount of rust just now forming on front lip of the hood. Due to its location, it is really easy to miss, but I've included a picture. Other than that, this a rust-free car having only been in California and Florida. A/C was rebuilt two years ago by a Z shop in town, but it isn't currently blowing cold. The cruise control is not working. Otherwise, all windows, locks, mirrors, lights, gauges, clock, etc. work fine. Prior to my ownership, an upgraded exhaust system was installed and it really makes this car sound “throaty” which is unusual from the “normal” stock sound made by straight 6 engines. Pictures: http://s1309.photobucket.com/user/jquigle1/library/1983%20280ZX Walk around: http://youtu.be/sgYZh70n73k The orange side markers on this Z were taken off a true Fairlady, a right hand drive 280ZX, that was at the local salvage yard about a year ago. In the picture album above, I've included pictures of the side markers. If I can find the original side markers in my garage, I will include them with the sale, as well. Please ask any questions before bidding. I will answer them as quickly as possible. Winning bidder must deposit $1,000 via paypal within 48 hours of auction close. Because smart buyers will ask good questions about the past ownership and maintenance, I’ve given you all the info I know about the car. In addition, I've gone through the entire stack of receipts. Unfortunately, I do not see one receipt for the engine rebuild, nor do I see any receipts for brake work. Clearly, for a Z car (or any other car) with this many miles, there is NO WAY it is on its original engine build nor is it riding with the original brakes. I received the car with 419,131 miles and it is currently at 424K. Used mainly for travel to and from car shows and the occasional joy ride! Below is a list of the receipts for things done over the last 75K miles. Again, the receipts go back to the beginning. Note, in my list below, I did not include routine maintenance such as oil changes, transmission services, wiper replacements, etc. Replaced starter on 6/12/12 at 421,328 Rear louvers painted & installed on 3/24/12 Replace oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket and front seal on 1/23/12 at 420,213 K&N Air Filter installed on 10/30/11 (odometer info not on receipt) Install Kenwood KDC-HD548U and Polk 5 ¼ speakers (odometer info not on receipt) Fuel filter replaced on 10/14/11 at 419,131 BF Goodrich tires installed on 6/18/10 (odometer info not on receipt) Radiator replaced on 4/5/10 at 416,199 T-top weather stripping replaced on both driver and passenger on 2/8/10 (odometer info no on receipt) Replaced out torque converter and front seat on 11/5/09 at 414,097 Replaced front & back struts with Tokico HP struts on 7/22/05 at 393,704 Replaced water pump, idler pulley, fan belt, power steering belt on 11/24/03 at 381,469 Overhaul rear differential on 11/27/02 at 363,640 Injectors replaced on 12/27/02 at 364,951 Fuel pump replaced on 3/30/09 at 351,528 On Apr-18-14 at 21:26:55 PDT, seller added the following information: As I was putting together the original documents for this car, I came across a copy of the seller's description in which he stated that the, "Engine was last overhauled at around 380K miles. Auto transmission rebuilt at 308K miles." Based on my experience with this car, I believe that to be true. This is an amazing car!
