This is a super nice 61 impala. I purchased this car as a project already started and about seventy five percent done. I bought it from a lady who knew absolutely none of the history or particulars of her late husbands pride and joy. The W engine appears to be fresh. It has two carters on an 881 intake, pro comp hei distributor, single wire alternator and an aluminum water pump. The casting numbers and date code are either a poor casting or have been ground off because the numbers are not legible. The block has been decked at some point and erased the suffix code also. I don't have a clue as to the bore or stroke. The engine runs well and has a massive amount of horse power. There is a cam card in the glove box that I assume is for the cam that is in it. I'm representing the engine as a 348 but it could be anything. The only thing i'm sure of is that it is a W motor. The car is now complete and runs and drives great. A hurst shifter handles the muncie four speed which is smooth and quiet. The tires are new Goodrichs on eight by fifteen inch SS Cragars. New exhaust with turbo mufflers. The C.A.R.S. interior is all new from headliner to carpet. Bumpers are not show quality but are good drivers. I don't know the rear gear ratio but it is deffinatley not in a strain when cruising at highway speed. Body, floors and rockers are solid and the paint is gorgeouse. The car is over fifty years old so it is as is where is and there is NO warranty of any kind. This is a ready to ride and have fun classic car.
