Up for sale is my 2002 Mazda Protege 5. I am the original owner. I leased it, financed it, then bought it outright. At this point, although drivable, it needs transmission work which I most likely can't really afford. Around Dec. 2013 it wouldn't go into 5th gear anymore, and although it would go into reverse, it would occassionally need to be "finessed" to get it to slide in - usually after trying to get it into 5th. Otherwise it worked ok. I replaced the 3rd-4th gear shifter fork in July 2012, so as that one had broke, this one might just be bent. It might be something as simple as a new 5th gear/reverse shifter fork, or extensive as major transmission work. I don't know as I'm not a mechanic, so I figure time to move on and sell it to someone who is a mechanic and can do the work themselves, since then the investment would be worth it for a fully working car, or if someone can use it for parts. Aside from that, and probably needing a nice tune up and valve adjustment, everything else works fine. It's got 4 new tires in the last 9 months, 2 new front struts in March 2013, and back break calipers were fixed, and a new battery installed in Sept.2013, as far as recent repairs/parts. All the power options work fine, CD player, power locks, moon/sunroof, windows, mirrors, cruise control, lights. I wish I was a mechanic cause I would love to diagnose the problem, and fix it myself, as I've enjoyed the car immensely and up until the last few years, had virtually no issues.
