Normal.dotm 0 0 1 240 1368 University of California at Berkeley 11 2 1680 12.0 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false I bought this car as a birthday present for myself for my 40th birthday, and it's been a lot of fun to own and drive. Cadillac made only 3,300 of these cars in conjunction with ASC, a convertible top manufacturer, and only a fraction of those cars survive today. The shape of these cars is gorgeous, they age well, and according to Wikipedia: “the convertible models are now highly sought after by numerous collectors.” This model was very expensive when first offered, about triple the cost of a new Fleetwood! It became an iconic car; I first saw it in the movie Pretty In Pink and decided I must have one! I bought the car partly because the value holds over time unlike many other classics. I put the car in storage in 2008 after buying a Rolls Royce. The year before I put it in storage, I installed a new convertible top (cost $3,000) and painted it. The body is straight, and most systems work fine. It is a California car with no rust. It has many options like leather interior, leather wheel, power driver seat, digital displays, CD changer in trunk. The leather is good because I treat it regularly with a leather conditioner, and I replaced the front seat bottom panels with durable exterior vinyl. The engine is strong: on a compression test done on 8/21/2013 the psi values were as follows: Cylinder 1: 110 psi. 2: 130. 3: 120. 4: 130. 5: 130. 6: 100. 7: 110. 8: 110. It recently passed California’s rigorous smog test. I have the original tonneau cover (shown in photos) and a custom storage bag. Also a custom car cover for the rare occasions it's out of the garage. The car has some minor mechanical issues, as follows: The climate control unit is bad (I have a used replacement, plus a trunk full of miscellaneous parts). The odometer stopped working in 2007. It shows 92,000 but the true mileage is about 5,000 more. One of the back windows rolls up slowly, and the torque converter rattles for a few seconds when the car is first started up. I’ve really enjoyed the car but with 6 other cars to care for I just can’t do justice to this beautiful machine any more, and I need the garage space. My custom plate does not come with the car.
