Vehicle Detail
1965 Ford Econoline Van, 170ci Straight 6, Automatic, Panel Van with American Racing wheels, body is very straight with very little rust. Engine is very clean. It does not smoke or appear to burn any oil. Drives very straight and tight. Transmission shifts well but has some leaks on the cooling lines where they go into the radiator. Transmission lever on the column has a makeshift index for finding the gear locations. Sometimes when you are driving it wants to move out of drive into Neutral. This could be from loose linkage. It was originally a asp manual. King Pins, drag link, tie rods are tight. Wheel bearings are just a bit loose and could be adjusted. Brakes are good. Very little play in steering. Engine starts and runs but needs a bit of a tuneup. Idles a little high. I am replacing the carb mount gasket as the old one was torn. The engine and drive train are very very clean. I don't know the history but they look recently installed and painted. The alternator seems a bit weak and pulses a charge. I am trying to find a replacement this week but so far I haven't had to charge the battery and have driven it about 300 miles in the last month. Lights, horn, signals, heater, fan, choke all work. Has an electric radiator fan with switch on the steering column for hot days. New radiator. Interior is paneled but should be covered or replaced. Tires are at about 60% life. Paint has spots where the clear coat is peeling but has good coverage for protection. There are some scratches on the passenger side that go to the primer and are about 3' long. Photos make it look better than it is. But, the body is in great shape. there are some rust bubbles on the front below the head lights and on the rear below the tail lights but nothing major. Has the FORD letters on the back doors and econline on the side doors but not on the front. Windshield is cracked and needs to be replaced. Interior has black carpeting throughout and paneling on the walls and the ceiling. It isn't the best install but covers the walls. Carpet is in pretty good shape. Door are tight and don't hang. Seats aren't original but with proper covers would be nice. They currently have some cloth seat covers. Has auxiliary oil pressure, tach, volt and temp gauges. Dash speedo, fuel, temp alt and oil pressure gauges work. Has a CD player with multiple speakers that work. I can't say much more than that as I have only turned on the radio. This is a nice little van than is on it's way to being a good daily driver. I bought a 63 econoline this week with on 30K original miles so I don't need two. This is a good example of a 65 econoline but is used and by no means perfect. I have done my best to describe the condition of the 48 year old vehicle. It has current Oregon registration. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it is sold locally. Buyer must pay for the vehicle in person.
