Thank you! 1956 CHRYSLER SOUTHAMPTON 2 DOOR HARDTOP I believe so strongly in this beautiful 1956 Imperial Southampton two door hardtop that I am offering it at no reserve. Why do I feel so strongly about this car, well let me tell you about it. First of all it is very complete with a mostly original interior. I say mostly because two panels on the front seat have been replaced with the incorrect material. When I look at a car I simply get goose bumps if the interior is basically all original. In this case we have original leather, original back seat in its entirety, original headliner, original door panels, quarter panels, original carpet, etc. Even if it’s worn it provides perfect samples so if one is going to replace it they can do it right. Then let’s look at the exterior. Is it complete with all its trim even down to correct license holders? In this case yes. Do all the panels fit and is there evidence of previous accident damage or rust repair. In this case neither rust thru or accident damage. The paint. The top has been refinished in its correct color and is superb. The bottom is a mix of spot work obviously done over its lifetime but a nice match and best said presentable. Good enough for a show but you will not win. Engine compartment. Original to a fault. Notice that even the spark plug wire covers are in place. Often missing and hard to find. The carb has been upgraded but most will not know and it does retain its correct air filter. Overall mechanical performance is simply outstanding. There are minor brake issues but should go away with driving. This Imperial has barely been driven since 2009. Niceties. To begin with most everything works. All exterior lights work, park, head, stop,, turn and braking lights work as original. All gauges except a tempermental fuel gauge work. Dash lights including map light work – see pictures. The radio did work but does not except to come on and buzz. The signal seek works but will not select a station. The power antenna works great and when up reaches to mars. The trunk, all original coverings and still very presentable. What have I left out? I hope you get the picture of just how unique this gorgeous Imperial is. If my dissertation doesn’t suffice please review the pictures carefully. This is a stunning car even with its faults. It is a rare car, ask when you lost saw one. Is it complete, yes even the jack and tools are in place. Oh yes those wire wheels. They are not original to the car but are correct Chrysler wire wheels with reproduction center caps. The tires are ancient bias ply 820-15’s. They have not been balanced and are old enough to be unsafe for a road trip but they have great tread. The wheel and tire package complement the originality of the Imperial. As always it is impossible to provide everything without going on and on so if there is something that you need to know simply ask. By the way this is a west coast car as it come from Spokane, Washington. It is exciting to offer this Imperial and the no reserve speaks for itself.
