Vehicle Detail

This is my two owner 1993 Red on Red Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 with 31,000 miles, VIN 1G1YZ23J0P5800313. If you want to know more about the ZR-1 Corvette, check out ZR1NetRegistry The 1993, 1994 and 1995 ZR-1s are the ones to have because they have the 405 HP 4 bolt main LT-5 32 valve dual overhead cam Lotus designed engine. Only 448 cars were built in each of these three years. This car also has the optional glass top. The car has spent its entire life in the Dallas Texas area. I purchased the car from the orginal owner in 1999 with 19,500 miles. Over the past 15 years I have put an additional 11,000 miles on it. The car is in excellent condition and has been garaged its entire life. The things that are not stock. When this car had 202 miles, the original owner purchased the 1994 ZR-1 5 spoke wheels, LPS (Low Preasure System) sensors and tires. Included are the original 1993 wheels, LPS sensors and tires (with 200 miles on them) (see pictures below). A few years ago I replaced the FX-3 shock absorbers with Penske shocks to improve the ride quality. I left the FX-3 controller in the car and the little motors that go on the top of each shock are still on the car, just zip tied to the chassis to make re-installing the stock shocks I kept (see pictures, below) easy. The late model ZR-1s were equipped with fairly soft springs. The rear spring is especially soft and when the car goes over bumps it had a very unconfortable (to me) "bounce" to it. I didn't want to change the springs or install normal "firm" shocks because it would make normal driving harsh. I found racing shocks have progressive damping rates based on shaft velocity. This is perfect for the car. As long as the bumps are small the ride is very comfortable. If the bump is large the shock gets progressively firmer and really keeps the car stable and sure footed. Well worth the $3,200.00! Included are the original FX-3 shocks ready to go back on if you want (see picture below). Now for the less than excellent items. There is the seemingly unavoidable wear on the driver's side outside bolster. The original owner was a large man and he somehow hit the seat in a place that wore a hole in the bolster (see picture, below). The radio, tape player, speakers and antenna work great but when a CD is inserted the drive wants to pull the disk in (the radio mutes and the motor runs) but nothing happens. The climate control will sometimes ignore a button press. When it does I press another button till it recognizes one then press the button I want and it works. I have searched the net looking for anyone else with this issue and have not heard of it. I have not done anything about it because I leave it in Auto. (And, perhaps, is the reason for the sticking. It just isn't used enough.) When I want to change it, the above trick above always works. Otherwise, the system works as expected. The A/C blows cold and the heater blows hot, when they should. The glue that attatches the weather strip at the lower corners of the hatch is feeling the car's 21 years and needs to be re-glued. This is common in C4 Corvettes. The side and top edges of the winshield are starting the ZR-1 color change. This is a common ZR-1 issue because of the metal in the lamination to reduce the solar heat into the interor. And, of course, the paint has typical 31,000 mile imperfections. Click on any picture for a 1600x1200 resolution image. The option codes are here: Note: here is the valet key missing from the picture of the two sets of keys. The optional glass top. The optional glass top has not even had the factory protection film removed. The Penske shocks that make such a ride difference. The original sticker, user manual, service manual and the available books. The invoice for the new wheels: Two complete set of keys (the other valet key is in the car) and the original ZR1-key chain! The original 93 wheels. The original tires with only 200 miles! The original FX-3 shocks if you have to have them. This is great for parking in the sun with the T-top off. Just lay it over the opening and the suction cups stick to the side windows. The seat flaw.
