Up for sale is a 1966 Corvette convertible. It was previously owned by a respected physician in the Salt Lake City area who took great pride in ownership of this well cared for vehicle. He has since passed away and the car is being sold as part of his estate. Prior to being bought by its last owner, it was previously owned for 33 years by a GM mechanical engineer who took meticulous care of it since he purchased in 1971 at 42,790 miles. Please note that the original owner experienced engine failure near new (connecting rod through block) and a new factory (crate) 327 short block was installed, so the engine number does not match the VIN. This is therefore NOT a numbers matching engine. It currently shows 69,733 miles but this is inaccurate, as records indicate that the doctor bought the vehicle with 88,600 miles on it in December 2004. As best as can be told it still has less than 100k miles. Records indicate it had one professional repaint in 1978 to original color Nassau blue (976) paint and blue vinyl interior (418). It has a white convertible top (bought new in 2005) and black vinyl hardtop. This car has no rust and has spent its winters indoors. The car has been locked away in storage for the past few years but runs and drives great. The last owner added new interior door panels, had the whole car’s electrical system rewired, replaced the brake lines and cylinders, and changed the exhaust system from standard to “lake pipes.” It includes the following options: 327/350 HP V8, 4 speed manual transmission, 3.70 axle with positrac, auxillary hard top, power steering, teakwood steering wheel, AM/FM radio, aluminum wheels, alarm system, and fitted cotton/flannel cover. I am not a Corvette expert and have tried my best to explain the car’s current condition and flaws. Please feel free to ask any questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability. The car was inspected by a local classic Corvette mechanic and a new battery was installed. He stated that the car is in great mechanical shape and just needs to be driven.
