Vehicle Detail

Here is a 1982 Honda CBX Supersport 1000. Last year Honda made the 6 cylinder bikes. I've owned the bike since 1986. It is original except for the windshield. Lost the original during a move. I know it can be found on the internet. Over the years I've polished, touched up paint, made repairs when needed. It's been meticulously maintained. I've ridden the bike all over the place, even shipped it to Hawaii with me once. It has never been abused (absolutely no burnouts). I've just enjoyed riding it. This bike has a history. It is not new. It's never been restored although it has terrific "curb appeal." Always draws attention. I have to assume anyone interested in this bike would be an enthusiast/collector. This motorcycle likes to be pampered, likes to be ridden regularly. If it sits for awhile it can be finicky to start until you get the hang of it. It may weep fuel from carburetor overflow tubes for a minute or two, it will stop. Put Berrymans in the tank, ride regularly for no more seepage. You will chase oil seapages at one sight or another, I have. This is a very nice example of these very collectable old Hondas. They are only getting rarer. It's a fun bike to ride. Anyone who has ever been on a CBX, looks down the road and opens the throttle knows what a kick in the butt it is to ride. The sound of the six cylinders exploding below you is, as they say, a real rush! The inside of gas tank is absolutely clean. Chrome on exhaust headers is nearing end of life. There is superficial rust (not rot) where headers join the mufflers. Mufflers are great (two little dings, one on each side). Neutral switch malfunctioned about 2 months ago - should be an easy fix for you. There are stress cracks on luggage bags, and tailpiece. Side cover decals show some wear. Missing a couple of pieces of hardware for the windshield and some plastic screw head caps, again, easy find on Ebay. Has a couple of minor oil seapages, as I said earlier always chasing them. May be other small defects that escaped my scrutiny. Simply, it has the wear of it's years. It has original clock and altimeter both work fine. Comes with original: tool kit (complete) in bag, air pressure gauge (works), owners hand book, and shop repair manual all in very good condition. At about 36,000 miles, the cylinder base gasket was giving me fits (leaks). I had it replaced. At the same time I replaced the rings, freshened the valves, carbs richened and rebuilt, new clutch plates, fork seals, and a number of other things I forget. All totaled $3,000. Jim's cycles of Santa Cruz, CA did the work. Recently I have rebuilt front rotors (new seals and pistons). It has new starter, battery, solenoid, oil and filter and factory correct seat cover. Front tire is about 50%, rear tire almost new. When ridden regularly it fires right up with just a touch on the starter button. Sounds great, smooth idle and acceleration. Understand, I make no excuses for this bike. When looked at it stands tall. Please look at pictures carefully. Any questions at all feel free to e-mail me, happy to answer. Overall, this motorcycle is in very nice condition. It carries the "Patina" of its years well. It can be ridden anywhere you want to go. Please take a look at all the pictures for more details. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have. Note: Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs. Motorcycle is sold as is. Sale is final. No warranty written, expressed or implied. The seller reserves the right to cancel the auction at any time because the motorcycle is for sale locally.
