Looky Looky 1972 Vintage OSSA 175 CC. When I was a kid, 40 years ago I used to walk next door to visit our neighbor with my dad. Gene, our neighbor had a basement full of motor cross bikes and road bikes and I wanted one so bad I could taste it. Never got to ride one much less own one until about 3 months ago when Genes ESTATE was auctioned off. I bought one i guess because it brought back some cool memories as a kid or met the want I had back then for one of Genes bikes. NOW I'm over it ;-) Enough of the sentimental story. This bike is awesome! Gene took very good care of everything he owned; the type of guy you don't mind buying something mechanical from because he always went overboard in ensuring his things performed properly. The bike has scratches expected from a used bike but for the age looks really nice. The seat is like new, all the fiberglass is in excellent condition except for a crack on the right rear number plate. it is all there but cracked. Tires look new and could be original. when i got the bike home i took carb off and it was clean as a whistle. I rinsed the tank with carb cleaner and put a few glass marbles in to break anything loose but it was fairly clean and not much remarkable came out of it. I put gas in it mixed heavy with oil to start. The bike fired right up on 2nd kick. I rode the bike for probably 15 minutes in all.The brakes work great. the clutch works as it should and runs through all the gears just fine. The kill switch works as it should. i put new gas lines on it because the old ones were brittle. the throttle cable is sticky and i would suggest it be changed if it is ridden but it is fine for a collection piece as is. The shocks work as they should. the sprocket is in like new condition. Rims look great and not beat up. You can see the vintage stickers on it ( i was going to take them off but they kind of give it some character). The tag says MAR-1972, 350 : 391 (i assume it is the 350th made) You will not find an original OSSA any nicer than this one. You will look for a long time to find one like this time capsule that sat since 1973 in Genes basement.
