Here it is listed in the correct section. Amazing barn find. Seriously...... barn fresh. Matching number 1963 BMW R60/2 with Hoske Tank, 1951 BMW Spezial Sidecar and very unusual Richter Kabine convertible cabin. Not for the faint of heart. This is a rolling chassis in original paint with all of its parts but needs complete restoration. This bike has been untouched since the early 70’s.It has been sitting for all of these years, not sure if that is a good thing (rusty gold). Amazing to uncover it complete though. Time capsule for sure. This machine was stored in a damp garage/barn so it has rust. Read on. PLEASE READ ACCURATEDESCRIPTION BEFORE BIDDING. I found this complete machine and rescued it. I have cleaned it up some to see what is there and what kind of shape it is in. I cleaned up the engine parts enough to see what was there and perhaps why he took it apart. 1963 BMW R60/2 Matching number chassis and engine. Delivered new 2/25/63 to the BMW dealer, Rovenich inKoln (Cologne), Germany. Badge on front fender confirms BMW archive report.Bike is rolling but engine is apart. The previous owner took it apart himself after he blew the engine. It never moved again. The bike has a sexy and desirable Hoske tank. The last two of these that I have seen sold on ebay wentfor over 2000.00 each. I am not an expert but the tank looks good. Front tabs may have been added? It is stamped R 51/3 HOSKE on one side and 22.2.61 with some initials on the other side. Very nice shape with darkish gray inside and only a few flecks of rust.. see photos. It has the shape that clears the sidecar mounts. Have not opened the glove box, no key. The bike itself appears to be complete but in rough but restorable shape like the rest of the outfit. I believe was delivered as a sidecar ready machine due to its wider rear wheel, high torque transmission and high bars. Has 27/7 rear ratio. Came with owners manual. Some pages stuck together. Very original paint everywhere. Some touch ups to the striping. Original wiring and fasteners. Everything is there but I want to be clear. Unless you want to mechanically restore it and leave it looking like Road Warrior (which would be cool). Every painted part needs to be stripped and refinished, every piece of chrome and/or aluminum needs to be re-plated, polished or replaced. Every fastener needs to be refinished or replaced. I would get a stainless set of bolts from Benchmark or someone and be done with it. The rear fender is badly rusted on the top and needs to be replaced. The front fender is probably ok. The frame look good as does the suspension. Both wheels are bad and should be replaced. The brakes are probably serviceable. The seat has a small tear in the cover. The switches and controls should be evaluated. Look at the photos for detail. It has a great stance and presence even in its rolling state. ENGINE: Matching number engine is all apart. It appears that all of the parts are there. Same as the bike… everything needs to be completely rebuilt or replaced. From what I can see, the front bearing housing has two broken mounts. One cylinder head has cracks around the spark plug hole in the combustion chamber. The rod bearings seem stiff. I am not an expert. The engine will need to be completely rebuilt. The block, pan, flywheel, cylinders, etc look good. The alternator and electrics are rusty. Both carb bodies are corroded and must be replaced. One valve cover has a cracked fin. TRANSMISSON: I was told that it is a high torque trans for use with a sidecar. Has the 27/7 rear gears. Trans is all together and looks fine. Was never taken apart. THE /2 BIKES WERE MADE FROM 1955-1969 SO MOST PARTS ARE AVAILBLE NEW OR USED. BMW dealers still offer almost everything and there are many independent suppliers as well as used suppliers. BMW SPEZIAL SIDECAR: Only offered through BMW dealers, it was a Steib special model with a brake, emblems and other special equipment. This is an early model with leaf spring suspension rather than the rubber bands. 1951 with a BMW serial number badge 51025. The sidecar was delivered on 5/16/51 to the BMW dealer Kleyna in Siegburg, Germany. Condition: It is like the bike. Needs everything restored. The frame looks fine. Serial number is legible but the plate is rusty. New ones are available. The wheel is rusty. The boat looks pretty good but the floors are rusted and need to be welded or replaced. The seat is gone. The springs are rusted. The fender needs major rust repair. Steib makes every one of the parts for this including a new fender. Look online for suppliers. The trunk and trunk floor look good. The latches are rusty. It has a mechanical brake. The spare tire rack looks good. I have the original windshield and tonneau cover but the cover is ripped and the windshield plexi is broken. These are also available new. RICHTER KABINE: Very rare cabin with convertible top. These are prized but hard to find info on. Everyone who has one seems to have retrofitted them to fit the Steib. There is no consistent way that I have seen them fastened. This owner cut the front edge off and attached metal shirts and a foam gasket. It would need metal work to restore the front edge or just use it as is. I have never seen another is person but there are photos of them in some of the BMW books. Really cool item. Looks like a fighter plane cockpit. As I have said, this could be mechanically restored and ridden as is or completely restored. The parts are readily available. This is a big project though so I hope you have some time on your hands. This is a rusty barn find. I have honestly described it as well as I can. I have not sugar coated it in any way. If anything I have pointed out the worst of it. The positives speak for themselves in the photos. I am starting it at 7000.00 but have NO RESERVE on it. The Hoske tank alone should be worth over 2000.00. This machine IS what it IS. There are no illusions. There are a ton of pics so you can see exactly what you are bidding on. The bike is available for viewing in CT if you send me a question and your info. Connecticut does not title motorcycles made before 1981 so it is sold with a CT Bill of Sale. I can assist with shipping but you will have to organize it. This vehicle is sold as is with no warrantee expressed or implied. Sale is final with no returns. A non-refundable 500.00 deposit via PayPal is due within 48 hours and the balance due within 7 days of the close of the auction. I was asked to see photos of the engine block. So, here are some more photos. As I have said, the number does match the VIN. Posted with eBay Mobile
