Up for auction is a 1979 CX500. I bought this as a complete project bike a few months back, and after spending considerable time and effort on it, I am moving and no longer have somewhere to store it so it's gotta go. I was intending to turn it into a cafe racer, while keeping it as original as possible (without chopping the frame, removing the airbox, etc.) -- The frame has had the rust removed and has been painted (probably should have been powder-coated, but there is always next time)--new headlight brackets --new sealed battery--clubman-style handlebars --head-pipes have been cleaned up--fresh paint on tank/side covers/wheels --motor has been painted with high-temp paint--fresh antifreeze--previous owner rebuilt the carb Most of the bike has been cleaned up, but it still isn't finished. Currently it is not able to be driven (no lights, mufflers, gauges, front brakes, clutch may need work), I have a rough seat pan (not attached) and a mock-up of what the rear box should look like (the box pictured is just made out of poster-board and tape). The front tire holds air but is not safe to be driven on. THE FRAME HAS NOT BEEN ALTERED. Comes with lots of spare parts, including:--rear wheel and tire (tire looks decent)--throttle cables--overflow water tank--ignition switchand lots of other stuff (came with the bike when I bought it). Also it comes with everything that "should" be on the bike, like those ugly turn signals, tail light, gauges, megaphone exhaust, original seat pan/foam (seat cover has been tossed), motor protecting bars, and a bunch of other stuff that I kept, just in case someone wanted it. All of those parts are in rough shape (they were on the bike, which had been sitting outside for an unknown number of years). The title is in my name but it has an odometer discrepancy (no idea why, used the same mileage listed on the old title and it hasn't been driven since). I will cooperate with whatever shipping method the buyer opts for, but all shipping must be dealt with from buyer. This bike is for sale locally and auction may be ended early. This is most definitely a project bike, but with a little work, knowledge, and a little money, it would be a pretty cool ride. It has just come to my attention that I forgot to post this: THE MOTOR CAN BE STARTED AND RUNS. The longest I've let it run was just a minute or two (in doors and I didn't want to get poisoned), but with the choke pulled out it will run.
