Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1974 Porsche 911 Targa, with 78,925 original miles. The car is coming out of long term storage. Over the course of last winter, it seems to have developed an oil leak ( right side of the engine), as well as a gas leak. It runs and drives, the engine revs nicely, and the clutch feels new (documentation shows a $1385 clutch job in 2009, but the car has only been driven a few miles since before being put away), the brakes are in good order, the gears seems to shift just fine. The fuse box cover is missing, as well as the battery tray, the battery is holding the charge. After a dusting off, the car overall is very presentable, the body is straight and sound, the targa top is in good shape and comes on and off easily. The glass all around is good. The guards red paint is not original but still looks nice. The car was originally a pale yellow. I bought new shock/struts for the deck lid and front hood. The car sports the traditional Fuchs wheels, shod with Michelin Defender X+4 Radial 505. The dashboard has a few cracks on top (see picture) and one of the heat vent at the bottom left of the dashboard is missing (see picture). Also, the passenger seat is coming undone at the seams; it will need a new cover. The backrest of the same seat doesn’t recline probably due to a faulty latch. The passenger window is stuck down and doesn’t roll up. It looks like a window regulator issue. No sun visors. The car has an Alpine stereo system. Overall, this is a great air cooled 911 that, with a little of elbow grease and sorting out, will look very nice, will run great and will keep going up in value. After charging the battery, the car started right up only after a few turns of the key!
