Vehicle Detail
1979 Honda CBX1000 "Z" model in Glory Red 28437 miles ***Low Reserve*** Z version was first produced in 1978/79 in Japan Built date: 8/1978 Vin# CB12011130 Description: Offering from my Honda collection this IMMACULATE, ORIGINAL RESTORED 1979 CBX1000 Early Series. Bike runs and rides good. Starts immediately with electric start, shifts smooth. ALL lights, signals, gauges, and indicators work properly. The engine sounds great through the factory 6 into 2 exhaust. The pipes do have a few dents at the bottom of the left pipe not visible from the top (see picture). This CBX is one a great example Japanese motor bike history...sometimes called the Ferrari of Super Bikes. Please analyze the photos. No dents holes, cracks on the tank. All of the lights are in working order. Reproduction owner's manual. Gas tank is rust free inside with no dents. No oil leaks or smoking. All Decals are originals and they are there. No fading on the Speedo dial... evidence that the bike was not in the sun but garaged. Overall Chrome is good. Motor and top end fins are great shape with no issues. No oil/gas leaks. OEM shocks. Previous owner did say that front forks were serviced with new seals and oil. New Honda Oil Filter and Honda Lube 10-40W. New KN air filter. Seat has no tears or wrinkles. Top and bottom end engine completely tore down and serviced with all new seals, gaskets, new CBX 81 model clutch which reduces the 79 clutch design flaw of excessive clutch sound. Alternator serviced with inner and outer seals and gaskets changed. Cam tension guides changed and serviced. Front Brakes rebuilt. New front and back brake pads. All fluid changed. Approx. $2000 in repair and parts receipts which convey with the sale. Know issues/flaws: Smokes lightly during cold start but goes away when the engine is hot. I was told this was normal by the CBX mechanic. Idles rough when at high throttle. Carburetors may need fine tuning or Throttle cable needs adjusting. Rear right side cowling was cracked when I got it. Repaired professionally with fiberglass repair kit (see picture). Left muffler has a few dents. (see picture). I have taken a lot of pictures (ALL pictures taken recently in normal sunlight few days ago) but if you like me to take a picture which you have not seen here, please let me know...this also goes to any questions you may as well. I will get back as soon as possible. Please do not get alarmed by the water patch on the ground seen in some pictures. That is just water... The following YouTube link has a short video of the engine running.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDKVGRggICg&feature=youtu.be History: I bought it from a gentleman in AK who claims to have bought it from the first owner. The first owner bought it new in 79 and rode for many years. Later due his age, the Bike was stored in house covered in a blanket until the second owner purchased it. It has a clear title issued from the State of AK and bill of sale. Why sell it: I am letting go few of my collections to make room for more. I want this Bike to be enjoyed by someone out there. These bikes are highly collectables and priced high however based on the above mentioned flaws, my reserve is set low. Bidding/Payment: A $1000.00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. If all the funds are not received as indicated above, I reserve the right to keep the deposit and resell the motorcycle by re-listing or to another bidder. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his/her cost. The motorcycle is locally listed for sale and the EBay listing may be deleted prior to the auction end if the Motorcycle is sold.
