Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a very solid 1964 Impala Sport Coupe that has been in dry-indoor storage since 1979. It is still intact with the original 283 V8 and automatic transmission, along with a very clean original interior. The car comes with a clean Minnesota title with no issues. Because of it's clean originality, low miles and rust-free condition, this car was purchased in 1979 as an investment. It received a driver-quality exterior paint finish in the original color (Tuxedo Black). It took a few short drives over the next two years (last licensed in 1981) and then got put away. It has been stored inside (and started occasionally) ever since. The chrome trunk and side-mouldings you see missing were just never addressed before going into storage. Very recently, the car once again saw the light of day. It was hand-washed and the late-1970's bias-ply tires were removed and replaced with a brand-new set of four Hankook radials with baby moon hubcaps. You can obviously see the SS emblems on the rear quarters and interior door panels. Appearantly someone has added these to the car way back in the 1970's because the car is coded-out as a 1800-series, which is an Impala V8 2-Door Sport Coupe. A 1400-series is the code for a true SS Impala. Nevertheless, it is still a very clean original V8 Impala hardtop that could be made into a nice SS clone or kept original. In the trunk there is also an original set of four SS wheel covers and an SS console for an automatic on the floor. I don't know if it was factory or added on later, but it has a vacuum-actuated trunk opener with the control valve inside the glovebox and the actuator at the trunk latch. You can see the actuator in the photo of the underside of the trunk lid. The car has a white-vinyl top which is in very good condition. I don't know if it is original to the car. The original tinted windshield has one rock chip which could still be repaired and the rest of the car's glass is nice with no flaws. The car is coded for and has the padded dash which is in good condition. The interior color is Fawn. The front and rear carpets you see in the photos are the factory-original. The only rust I could find anywhere on the car (and I do know how to find it) was in the front of the trunk on the vertical panel just below the inner-wheel wells. It is not an open hole but there is a very small area of corroded metal there on both sides. The hood, front fenders, door hinge pillars, both doors, inner & outer rockers, all floorpans & supports, inner wheel wells, inner & outer rear quarters, trunk lid and the entire trunk floor...all 100% solid as can be with no rust issues. The factory-original 283 motor does run, but the Rochester four-barrel needs a rebuild-kit badly from sitting. The mileage is believed to be original and you would likely agree with that after going through the car. But at 67,638 miles the motor is likely getting tired. The original automatic transmission still works well, as do the brakes. The steering is tight and the rear differential runs quietly with no issues. Rest assured that my reserve in not out there in "neverland". It is very realistic for the model of car it is and for it's condition. If you are looking for a very good-quality '64 Impala to take to the next level or just to enjoy as a driver, It would be difficult to find a body as nice as this one! Thanks for looking and good luck!
