1949 WILLY RAT ROD COMPLETELY RECONSTRUCTED EXCEEDING RAT ROD STANDARDS ONE OF A KIND One of the most unusual Willys on the planet offered in time to personalize for the upcoming season of fun. It has been completely reconstructed and exceeds Rat Rod standards. A one of a kind vehicle with universal appeal. It is a magnet -- drawing crowds on the street and at car events, impressing young and old. I will take you through the entire vehicle with photos, opinions and description. It began with a Chevy chassis and drive train, a 4.3 engine, automatic transmission with shift kit and a whole lot of time and money. After careful inspection of all working mechanics, the Willys body was fitted to the Chevy train. You will find no fault with the way this awesome Rat Rod runs, drives and handles. There is no pull, shake, or shimmy at highway speeds. HISTORY OF RAT RODS, RODDING'S IMPERFECT STEPCHILDREN After all is said and done, it's all about having fun with cars. For many years, car lovers got tired of having to be a mother hen watching over their cars. Heaven forbid if someone got too close, as even the smallest scratch could cost thousands to fix. You see these scratch-less beauties at any car event, or IF THERE IS NO TRAFFIC AND THE DAY IS SUNNY --YOU JUST MIGHT SEE ONE ON THE STREET. Where is the fun? These are 'filler cars' displayed by the thousands the world over at car events. They are beautiful and expensive with unbelievable workmanship; yet almost all do not have the WOW factor. People just walk-on-by these untouchables. At any event, more often then not, just one or two vehicles mark your memory. It’s usually Vintage Tin, the new best of show………….Rat Rods. Once completed, these personalized cars and trucks can be changed to fit your mood with little to no money. This is where there is fun. Most Rat Rods were created by car lovers with vision and imagination. They provide a service as most of these vehicles would just rot away in fields, junk yards and back yards -- gone forever. Those that are born again never see a paint booth or body shop. They are strong runners with all mechanics brought up to a standard fit for today’s highways including seat belts They are a work of art and function. The crafty creators are expert in their field with a keen sense of imagination. True Rat Rods are not junk. They are safe, road worthy, finished, perform well and are clean and reliable. They are remembered and travel at highway speeds. They are a combo of original paint, patina, really weird dress-ups and rusty panels. People drool when they see one in its ugly best. The best part, they keep increasing in value, more then any other vehicle. THIS RAT ROD This Willys rests on a Chevy platform and is powered by a 4.3 Chevy engine. It has an automatic transmission with shift kit, power steering and power brakes, tilt wheel, seat belts and an up-to-date comfortable seat with head rests. It starts on a dime and runs, drives and handles well. There is no wobble, shake or shimmy. The wheel is straight, it does not pull. It stops quickly. The Military theme catches everyone’s eye. EXTERIOR The exterior can be amusing: "Weird!” “What's that?” “Attractive” and most often just....”WOW!” but it always draws a crowd whenever and wherever it is driven. Lets do a walk around starting with the front. The hand built bumper is solid and properly fitted. The head lights are planted solidly and function properly. The tank between the bumper and the grill often times inspires people to ask “What's that?' It is functional, yet it was placed there just for fun. It is the radiator over flow tank. The hood, while secure, can be easily be removed for a fun in the sun cruise. It’s nice to drive your rod naked some times. The entire body was sanded, Rat Rod accented and clear coated. Next, let's go to the passenger side. Various emblems and stickers adorn the entire vehicle. Note the back pack. Add or take away to suit your fancy. Now the drivers side. Pull down on the vintage license plate attached to the faux five-gallon tank and you will discover the neck to the real gas tank. The back side has a working tail gate, a brand new bumper and twin pipes. The tires and wheels are like new with 235/ 74P 15 up front and 215/ 65 P 15 rear. The chrome caps and beauty rings are brand new. Park this ride next to a million dollar Ferrari and see who gets the looks! ENGINE The engine is completely clean, well positioned and ready to show with pride. It is a strong runner, it's quick, very responsive, sounds great, runs smooth and goes through the gears with ease. The whole engine compartment is clean with every thing in place and a place for every thing. This is the place to be serious. Nothing 'goofy' here like non- functional air cleaners. Just turn the key with an instant start and you are ready to roll. INTERIOR The interior is much more than just functional. It allows you to step back in time and yet it takes a peek at today. Playing with the Rat Rod theme, the coffee bag door panels are a hit. People line up to take a look. Of course, they can be changed at will to suit your mood. The seat is supportive, modern, roomy, in very good condition and comfortable. It has head rests and seat belts. Note the original Willys horn ring and dash. The tilt wheel adds to your driving comfort. The Army helmet goes with the car. For fun, push the dash button and the fender mounted siren sounds off. As Rat Rods go, this one is in show room condition. A whole lot of fun. Nothing else like it on the planet. It is well priced. I drove it daily for several months. REMEMBER TO PLACE YOUR BID.
