Vehicle Detail
I am passing on to someone this very worthy restoration project. I just acquired this car after purchasing it out of state. I was told that it was in great condition and needed very little to be in excellent condition. Needless to say, after spending a small fortune and then additional fortune to transport it here it is not the excellent fastback I was sold. What it is is a much older restoration, maybe 20 years or so and it needs to be restored again. To do this car justice it should be done right and I just don't have the means or the time to do this so I will take a loss and pass it on to someone more skilled than me. It is a 4 speed which is why we were excited to find it. They are just so impossible to find, especially in any kind of decent condition. I would say this car is decent to good. It currently has what we were told a stroker 302 that does start and run with gas in the carb. It won't stay running and probably needs a fuel pump but we aren't going to spend another dime on this car so I will say it runs but is not drivable. It does have working brakes and the clutch seems to function properly. The 70 year old gentleman I bought it from had it for over 15 years and apparently it was stored the entire time. It will need to be gone through mechanically before being put on the road. It will come with its original 289 motor as well. The interior is pretty much complete and usable as is but needs good cleaning and various small things. Full console. Paint is a 20 footer with some bubbling in a few spots. I'm not certain if it is rust or just moisture under the paint. I don't see any rust through areas. There are several chips in the paint. Body is overall really straight. Turn signal hood, dual exhaust, all glass is good one small chip in windshield. The floors look very solid to me and I've taken several pictures of them, I have not had it put on a lift but from crawling under they look fine. The trunk is solid with various parts. I am forgetting many things but please ask any questions and have car inspected before bidding. Once you win it you own it. We will not take a deposit just to hold it until you can come look. These 67 fastbacks are getting nearly impossible to find and the 4 speeds are even more obsolete. The reserve is only a few hundred less than the buy it now. Good luck bidding! On Oct-06-13 at 11:02:10 PDT, seller added the following information: Yes I know the wheels are not ideal, I didn't put them on the car. I do however have an almost brand new set of Eleanor wheels mounted on BF Goodrich tires that I bought for this car. The set was $2300 new from Les Schwab and they have 99% tread left. They are 17 inch wheels, authentic Ford wheels not repros. I can throw them in for an additional $1,000 which is a steal for these. Also thank you for all of the interest so far. I will answer the number one question. Yes we can probably get this car drivable enough to drive onto a transport truck. It most likely will be a simple task however, any money spent on getting it drivable we will charge the winner if he so chooses. I would say a few hundred bucks will get her drivable onto a trailer. Also to the question of rust on the body. The body appears to be very solid, there are 3 or 4 areas where the paint is bubbling but the paint may be salvageable with some spot work. If it were me I would just re do the paint anyhow. But it is a good body with good lines and all doors etc shut properly. The seats are all in good shape the front 2 are high backs from a 1970 Mach one. The rear is stock and nice.
