Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is my beautiful 1977 FJ40 Land Cruiser. This vehicle is finished in Rustic Green and is rust free. Mileage listed on the vehicle is 66,697 miles. I can't confirm if these are actual original miles or not but this is what the odometer is displaying. This vehicle starts, idles and drives flawlessly. No leaks. Factory 4 speed. I haven't been able to use this vehicle as much as I anticipated and as much as I want to keep it, it should go to someone who could use this vehicle more often as these vehicles don't like to sit, they definitely enjoy being driven and used rather than being stored in my garage and only taken out on nice days. It received a frame off restoration starting in 2008 and completed in 2009. There is no aluminum, no fiberglass, no cut rear fenders, no bedliner hiding anything, and no bondo. This is a 100% OEM steel body which was sandblasted during the restoration and received a beautiful, complete repaint in the original Rustic Green. The frame looks as good as new as that was also completely restored during the frame off. I purchased this vehicle in April of 2012, so the restoration was done prior to my ownership. All replacement parts that weren't restored were replaced with Factory OEM Toyota parts. These include water pump, smog pump, alternator, remanufactured intake/exhaust, new clutch, rebuilt factory carburetor, late model Land cruiser electronic ignition, new rubber suspension bushings, new exhaust pipes, new Genuine Toyota Muffler, all new gasket and seals, brand new weatherstripping around doors and all new window seals. All emissions equipment is intact and working for states that have to meet emissions standards. I am sure much more was done during the restoration, but without all the documentation I can just go by with what I see is new and what was told to me during the time I purchased the vehicle from the Cruiser Restoration shop. When I purchased it I did a few upgrades. I replaced the old suspension with a brand new Iron Man 2 1/2 inch lift kit. This car drives and handles very nice with this kit, which also included a new steering stabilizer. I purchased new Pro Comp steel Wagon Wheels and mounted 4 new BF Goodrich 33X10.5 All Terrain Tires, less than 500 miles on these tires since my ownership. Since the vehicle did not come with the rear jump seats when I purchased it, I bought a CCOT fold and tumble rear seat, seat belts and headrests included. I also purchased a CCOT steel tailgate powder coated black to mount when the Hard top/Ambulance doors are removed. I had a Kenwood CD player with ipod hook up installed with some boxed 6x9 speakers that I did not mount to the body so they can me moved around in the vehicle for more leg room, etc. I also purchased some new door mirrors from CCOT, but I also have the Toyota OEM mirrors in good shape that will be sold with the vehicle. I purchased CCOT tail light rock guards and installed them as well. I bought a new Duralast Gold Battery and installed that when I purchased it. I bought a CCOT rear rubber floor mat that I also put in and cut around the rear seat mounts and seatbelt mounts. I still have the original rear floor mat that will be sold with the vehicle. All dash lights, exterior lights work as they should, even the cigarette lighter works for charging a cell phone, ipod, etc. There is no headliner in the hard top. It never had one when I bought it and it never bothered me that it wasn't there so I never installed one. The spare tire is an older chrome Toyota wagon wheel that is spray painted white and has an older 31 inch AT tire mounted. I only have the hard top and an older bikini top that will go with the vehicle but I never installed or used the bikini top. I only removed the hard top once in my ownership. This FJ40 comes equipped with Warn locking hubs and shifts in and out of 4x4 hi and lo without any issues. This vehicle also has the OEM Toyota step mounted on the rear bumper which is nice if the new owner ever mounted roof racks on the hard top. There is a small area on the drivers bottom seat where the stitching at the seams started to seperate and pull apart, it is not anything major but it never spread and didn't need to be addressed. I would say it is approx 1-1.5 inches long. If anyone would like to see a picture of this I could take one and text a picture or email one if they wish. This FJ40 is in fantastic restored condition but it is still a 36 yeard old vehicle with a 4-5 year old restoration so please ask questions if unsure of something. PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU HAVE THE FUNDS TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE. This vehicle is sold without a warranty implied or expressed. This vehicle is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end/cancel the auction at any time. The winning bidder will be responsible for all shipping costs but I will assist as much as I can. If potential bidders would like to discuss this vehicle feel free to email me at cpdjfd@yahoo.com and I will also give my phone # out during emails if potential bidders would like to discuss this vehicle over the phone. Good luck and happy bidding, the new owner will be extremely happy with this classic FJ that can be used and enjoyed while it contines to rise in value. On Sep-30-13 at 07:12:02 PDT, seller added the following information: A few people asked a question of the red spot above the passenger's side door step, that red spot is just a reflection of my Toyota Tundra's brake light that was parked next to the FJ when I took the photos. The paint is excellent on this vehicle. I have the touch up paint as well. There is some small areas on the windshield frame that I had to touch up when removing the hard top and putting it back on but they aren't really noticeable. On Sep-30-13 at 09:25:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that I replaced the oil pan a couple months ago with a brand new Genuine Toyota oil pan and brand new Toyota cork gasket. I also have a couple more pictures of the dash and other things if anyone would like them feel free to email me at cpdjfd@yahoo.com. A few people have also asked about the other wheels I have. They are just older chrome fj60 wagon wheels, one of the wheels is being used as the spare wheel/tire on the vehicle now, I have the other 3 that will be included if anyone wants them. Thanks!!!On Oct-01-13 at 06:35:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I took the FJ for a drive around the block yesterday and noticed the brakes are a little soft. It still stopped fine without any issues but I had to give the brakes a pump or 2 for a real firm brake pedal. I replaced one of the rear drum wheel cylinders a few months ago because it had a small leak, and I could have done a better job bleeding the brakes. It is still fine for the street I just want to keep people updated. I doubt I will have time to bleed them before the auction ends, I will try though. And yes it has the factory disc brakes in front that came standard on 77 FJ40's. On Oct-01-13 at 10:43:02 PDT, seller added the following information: I just lowered the Buy-it-now price to $23,500.00On Oct-02-13 at 13:15:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Just an update. There is an actual tear in the vinyl on the drivers seat lumbar area about 2 inches, tear is vertical. I thought it was at the seam. I didn't see it until I pushed on the seat and saw that there was in fact a tear. I also forgot to mention that when I purchased the fj I applied rust bullet and por 15 underneath some parts of the vehicle to ensure no rust develops. I left the front fenders painted in the original green underneath as they are new Toyota factory fenders. On Oct-02-13 at 16:41:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I took the FJ40 to work today and gave it a nice cleaning and put another coat of wax on it. I had it on the highway driving 65 without any issues, steering with one finger on the wheel. It tracks nice and straight and steers perfect. Had it in stop and go traffic on the way home through town and it drove just as nice and it continues to turn heads. Whoever the lucky new owner of this FJ40 turns out to be, they will be extrememly satisfied. It looks even better in person than it does in my pictures. On Oct-03-13 at 06:51:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I just reduced my Buy-it-now price by another $500 to $23,000.00, and I also reduced my reserve price by another $500. Good luck bidders!!!
