Vehicle Detail
H.C. Anderson of Seattle Washington bought this car brand new from University Chevrolet for his wife. She drove the car sparingly and only locally in the Puget Sound/Seattle area until she became to old to drive in 1986. Prior to my ownership, November 29th 1986 was the last service date with a mileage reading of 38,741 miles. That maintenance sticker is still in the door jamb. The car had 38,852 actual miles at my time of purchase this year. Current odometer reading is 39,040. This is NOT speculation, a guess or assumption. The car has under 40,000 original miles. My Wagon has traveled less than 300 miles in the last 27 years. I acquired the car from the 75 year old son of the original owners. He would have never sold it but he is currently losing his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). It has always been garaged. This car defines the term "Survivor" and is completely original. Standard wear items such as tires, shocks, battery, belts, hoses, etc, are the only non-factory components to be found. I had a thorough service performed so that she was road worthy after sitting untouched for so long. Original Marina Blue finish shines proudly. The interior is 100% original and in near mint condition. The drivetrain operates as it did in 1966. She runs and drives perfectly. Even if I didn't type one more word, you'd have a clear impression of the car within just the first few photos. For those that prefer the long-winded version of a written description, here it is below the upcoming picture's in as much detail as possible. They are NEVER found like this anymore. An incredible car. I will also make a few brief comments under certain pictures throughout the photo display. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Wagon in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately from as many angles as I could think of. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My telephone number is 503-575-0404 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 1st of October at 7:30PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. *If you are outside of the U.S. or Canada, PLEASE contact me to confirm your bidding activity as genuine.* Everyone, please be sure to read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Impala Wagon. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see 3 days before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE A time capsule in almost every regard. The factory applied F-F paint code Marina Blue lacquer finish is still present on absolutely every original body panel. A small spot at the front of the drivers side fender shows evidence of a minor professional repair done many, many years ago (1970's). I wouldn't have noticed had the original owners not shared this information. No collision damage ever! There are a handful of imperfections in the form of small dings and color-matched touched-up scratches that occurred during the very limited use the car had. Many close-up photos provided. The original paint has slight age-related patina but holds an impressive shine. 47 year old lacquer paint is rarely found in this condition. Both bumpers, exterior chrome and stainless moldings are all very nice. All emblems, plastic lenses, etc, are excellent. Every piece of glass is like new and crystal clear. Any blemish the car has is very minor. She shows and presents herself extremely well. Even on close inspection, the original condition and appearance of the car is incredible. Compliments and flattering remarks are overwhelming every time I've taken her out. Like stepping back in time 40 years. NO rust issues ever. No patch-work and no abuses of fillers. Each and every body panel is original to the car. Gaps, alignment and panel fit are excellent and as she came from the factory. All doors open and close like new. 100% factory original and outstanding. Even the front seat is amazing. No vinyl repairs of any kind. Original everything. There is nothing else to say regarding the interior but I'm sure I will within the interior section of the photo layout. One look inside any door is all it takes. With the exception of service related replacements, she is unaltered and as she left the factory. Factory power steering and power brakes. The car functions and drives perfectly even with the 30+ year old bias-ply tires! I'm doing 62 miles an hour in this picture. Over the years, I've asked my dad several times how he didn't kill us all in our family cars when these tires were all that you could buy. He always says- "What? They were fine". I wholeheartedly disagree. In any case, at 39,000 miles she really does drive beautifully and feels comfortable on the road. Notice the 2 small dings above license plate. Again, there are blemishes but nothing that deters from the overall original quality of the car. The eyebrow molding is dented. Originals and reproductions are readily available but I chose to not alter originality. Each character mark on the car supports her gentle existence and low miles of use. All 4 T-3 headlights are original. As mentioned previously, the tires are non-radial correct vintage bias-ply's that are 30+ years old with 90% tread remaining. The power rear window operates smoothly up and down from the dashboard switch. For some reason it is not functioning with the key in the tailgate lock. It turns nicely but doesn't move the window. More than likely just a poor connection from not being used. Original window felts and rubbers are excellent. The 47 year old original lacquer finish is impressive and holds a nice shine but showing it's age slightly. All of the interior is near perfect. No replacement or aftermarket items. All door panels are mint. These blue seat cushions were in place when I got the car. So was the little trash bucket that clips onto the vent pull rod. Entire dashboard is very nice. All interior trim and brightwork is excellent. The rear seat was almost never sat on. There is a small hole in the headliner shown here in the center from a tall piece of cargo. Dashpad is mint. Absolutely everything on the car works! The factory clock is the only exception. All lights (including license plate and back-up's), gauges, wipers, heater, horn, etc, function properly. Even the AM radio tunes and plays perfectly! All dash components, knobs and switches are excellent. The plastic on the speedometer gauge cluster is crystal clear and lights up brightly when the lights are on. Again, this is not a judgement call or best guess. These are the total miles traveled since new. 100% authentic. I can't be clearer on this. When I purchased the car at 38,852 all digits were perfectly aligned. The odometer sat at 38,000 for almost 30 years. With use, they should straighten. Regardless, these are the true and correct miles. No tampering of any kind. Cargo area shows very light use. I left the 1960's snow chains in the original metal cornered box (never used) because they've always been here. The yellow bag has lots of vintage tools in it. I couldn't bring myself to removing them. NOT repainted or restored. The cargo well is simply MINT! None of us have ever seen anything like this. I had the car serviced so she could be enjoyed without worry. Mission accomplished. She starts easily warm and cold. Even the green cold light works on the dashboard. Acceleration is crisp and the car performs well. You can't even hear or feel her running while sitting at a red light. Brakes and suspension are tight and sound just like you'd expect at 39,000 miles. Cooling system is operating correctly. The 2-speed Powerglide transmission shifts flawlessly. I am aware of no issues. Truly "turn-key". Due to age, I had to replace some hoses and the old style clamps. These items are included with the car. Factory 12-bolt heavy duty rear end. Undersides we hope to find. Completely rock solid and rust-free. Lightly undercoated when new. NEVER exposed to a salted road or chemical de-icers. The undersides are outstanding. Original and correct engine block stampings. Everything coded here on the factory trim tag is in-sync with how the car is optioned. California built. All 4 hubcaps are MINT. I've had these rare caps for many years. They would have been an available option for this car in 1966. I just couldn't bring myself to alter the car in any way. I may sell them with the car but that will be a conversation for the next owner and I to have. As a lover of Station Wagon's from the 50's and 60's it's easy for me to have appreciation for this car. Survivor's in this original condition are becoming extinct and how many of them are ever blue!! The Holy Grail for color combinations. Such a unique car. Thanks again-__________________________________________________________Terms of Sale: 47yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS:Please read and agree with the following:I have described my Impala honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. This is a rare and very nice low mileage car but certainly not perfect. I have 100% faith in the drivability of my Wagon. I enjoy driving this car without concern but she is 47 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected based on her age and original components. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I have the free and clear Washington Certificate Of Title in my possession. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My telephone number is 503-575-0404 PAYMENT TERMSA $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements please contact me BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending.TRANSPORT - SHIPPINGI am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this entire process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately dispatched trucking company. They have handled my transport needs perfectly for the last several years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them before I started using only private carriers were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1200.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange.*If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me to confirm your bidding activity as genuine.* If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or even a low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine.
